Kelley and the Brookfield East Spartans have a significant conference game against Germantown. It’ll be a matchup between No. 1 and 2 in the Greater Metro Conference, and Kelley will be the most important player on the floor. She’ll get multiple kids thrown at her every time the Spartans inbound the ball, and her communication in their 2-3 zone is crucial. She’s playing outstanding basketball.
New Berlin West has had a shaky start to the season, but having a kid like McRae as your lead guard makes me think they’ll figure some things out soon. She’s solid with the ball in her hands and has shown that she could be a dynamic guard in the past. Once shots start falling for everyone, this team will improve. Overall, this group is young, and I expect their best basketball to come next season when they’ll have most of their team back. I like this group’s potential.
Ava Van Vonderen Ava Van Vonderen 6'0" | SG Kimberly | 2027 State WI
Van Vonderen hasn’t had to do as much as other kids in her class around the state, but she’s starred in her role and has shown flashes of what she could be once she earns more responsibility. By all accounts, she’s a kid who puts in work on her game and plays with the confidence to back that up. She’s been a kid they’ve asked to guard some of the best players in the FVA and done well. Her competitiveness looks contagious, and I’m waiting for the first game when she puts her stamp on a game and looks like the best player on the floor.
Haylie Dulas Haylie Dulas 5'11" | SF Kimberly | 2027 State WI
Dulas and Van Vomderen are inserperable in my eyes. They have similar skill sets, play on the same high school and AAU teams, and asked to play similar roles on both teams, and from the outside looking in, they seem close. The one thing that makes her stand out is her shooting, specifically from the corners. Kimberly loves to get open threes in the corner, and Dulas seems to have made her fair share. I love how seamless her fit has been for the Papermakers and how well Dulas, Van Vonderen, and Kennedy Ebben Kennedy Ebben 5'7" | PG Kimberly | 2027 WI have embraced their roles for the deepest team, talent-wise, in the state.
