First team all-Central Valley Conference a season ago, she is on pace to do the same while also leading her squad to the top of the conference so far this season. Rubio is often one of the leading scorers but puts up consistent numbers in all facets of the game, like her 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 5 steals in the Celts’ opening league victory. She has a beautiful shot and quick release, making her a natural shooter, however she can be quite shifty while making her way to the hoop as well. Rubio also exhibits a very high basketball IQ, making extremely smart plays on the defensive end with huge steals or quick blocks for her team.

Another shooting guard to have on your radar is Hailey Schmidt Hailey Schmidt SG Pendleton | 2024 State OR out of Pendleton. An absolute sniper from deep, Schmidt will knock down a few in every game if given even an inch of space. Earlier this season, she hit a whopping six 3-pointers in the win over St. Helens to finish with 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals and in a recent game against Lapwai (ID), she had 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. The crafty shooting guard is a constant threat due to her incredible ability to score, but she is also a very gifted rebounder at the guard spot. Schmidt has led Pendleton through a challenging preseason that puts them in a great position to vie for a league title should she continue to play at such a high level.

Kearney is one of the top sharpshooters in all of 6A, and with Sheldon competing in the Southwest Conference, perhaps one of the most difficult conferences in the state, the Irish will need her to continue her impressive play. Kearney earned WaFd Bank Oregon Girls Basketball Athlete of the Week honors for the week of 12/18 for her 20-point outing in the win over a good Summit team, that included four made 3’s. She followed that up by making three 3’s against Ida B. Wells to finish with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 6 steals. Kearney has the type of shot that can complete shift the course of a game, and also demonstrates elite court vision, both on the defensive end as well as on offense where she is constantly looking for her teammates.

Vigue is the type of shooting guard who really does it all for her team. A season ago as only a sophomore, she achieved the rare accomplishment of a quadruple-double, contributing 19 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists, and 14 steals in her squad’s win over North Bend. Vigue has continued to put up impressive numbers like these for the Red Devils in her junior campaign, helping her team in just about every way possible on a basketball court. Her versatility as a player does not downplay her elite shooting abilities at all, however, as Vigue just won the 3-point shootout at the Les Schwab South Coast Holiday Tournament a week ago. She led her team to a perfect 11-0 in preseason, and the Red Devils are currently sitting at 13-1 looking like a team that will be a serious threat in the postseason with Vigue at the helm.

Only a sophomore, Jill Garlitz Jill Garlitz SG Eagle Point | 2026 State OR appears to be getting better and better with every game she plays for the Eagles. She is not just a gifted shooting guard, but Garlitz is a terror on the defensive end, demonstrating constant awareness and a quickness that allows her to create steals and layups on the opposite end. She is very skilled at pushing the ball hard in transition and is constantly keeping her eyes up in search of her teammates. Garlitz had a big game in the win against Roseburg, leading in scoring with 19 points (including two shots from beyond the arc. Eagle Point is heading into league play in a stacked Midwestern League, and it will be fun to to watch as the young Garlitz continues to improve her game.
