Dakota Carson Dakota Carson 5’5″ | CG Creswell | 2024 State OR has been having a remarkable senior season, and she is a prospect that coaches will definitely want to take a look at. Through the Bulldogs’ first 10 games, Carson averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and in two of their most recent games, Carson put up 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals in a close win over Elmira and 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals over Harrisburg. A team captain, Carson is a leader for her team in many ways, including leading the Bulldogs in scoring and assists in most of their games. Carson has a beautiful shot from outside, that she gets off with incredible speed thanks to her always being ready to shoot, and she also has the capability to create her own shot off the dribble. She also is crafty in getting the rim where she demonstrates elite level footwork and finishing ability. As of right now, Carson is uncommitted for next season.
I have written about Kortney Doman Kortney Doman 5’9″ | CG Crane | 2024 State OR ‘s incredible abilities before and there is not enough that can be said about her skills on the basketball floor. She is the reason that Crane is currently 12-0 and why all of their wins have been by 30+ points. In their last three games, Doman had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 9 steals, and 2 blocks versus Imbler; 12 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 7 steals, and 1 block against Monument/Dayville; and 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block over Trinity Lutheran. Any player capable of putting up these types of numbers and dominating like she does on a nightly basis deserves recognition as one of the best 2024s in the state. With her ability to do it all, from shooting anywhere on the court to turning teams over constantly on the defensive end, Doman is an uncommitted prospect to know.
Maya Sanders Maya Sanders 5’6″ | CG Franklin | 2024 State OR is another uncommitted 2024 who has been very impressive in her senior campaign. There are very few high school players who are able to score the way Sanders can. In some notable performances this season, she had 31 points — including six 3-pointers — 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals in the win over Century; 26 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in the close battle with Bend; and an incredible 35 points in her team’s first game of the POA Holiday Classic against Parkrose. The Lightning rely heavily on her to produce, and without her, they would likely be winless this season. Sanders is an incredibly smart player who sneaks her way into the right place at the right time on both ends of the floor, and has no fear to make a hustle play for her team, making her one of the top uncommitted seniors in Oregon.
Hailey Schmidt Hailey Schmidt SG Pendleton | 2024 State OR is no stranger to being the best player on the floor. At Pendleton, Schmidt has been giving dazzling performances for years now, and her senior season has had several of them. In a game earlier in the season, Schmidt drilled six 3-pointers to finish with 27 points against St. Helens as well as 5 rebounds and 2 steals, she had 25 points in the win at Bend, and led the Buckaroos in scoring in their last game, a win over Umatilla, with 14 points. The only non-senior on the Greater Oregon League’s first team a season ago, Schmidt will likely be one of the top contenders for the league’s player of the year come season’s end. She is an electric shooter who is incredibly fun to watch let it fly, and she just has the ability to take control of a game when she’s on the floor. Currently, Schmidt is uncommitted for next year.
Ella Holwege Ella Holwege 5'7" | PG Corbett | 2024 State OR
Ella Holwege Ella Holwege 5'7" | PG Corbett | 2024 State OR
Point guard and team captain of the #1 team in 3A, Ella Holwege Ella Holwege 5’7″ | PG Corbett | 2024 State OR is a player who has what it takes to play at the next level. Not only is Holwege one of the best point guards I have watched play in terms of her ability to push the ball, run the offense, and find her teammates, but she is also an incredibly gifted scorer, making her a very fun, well-rounded player to watch. In two of their early league games, Holwege had 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals against Warrenton and 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 block versus Rainier. She has the commanding presence of a natural floor general who can completely change games, which has made her one of the big reasons why Corbett is undefeated through their first 14 games and the heavy favorite for a state title. Holwege, who is uncommitted, would be a steal for college coaches at this point.
