Continue ReadingThe 1000 point scorers in New Jersey are starting to come by the dozen it seems like. New day, new player reaching the milestone, which just goes to show you how crazy this state has been with basketball success. Here’s a look at who has recently crossed the milestone in New Jersey, and it’s quite a few players.
Vanessa Kohler Vanessa Kohler SF Highland Park | 2025 State NJ – Highland Park (2025)
Kohler just reached the milestone after a massive 26-point performance for Highland Park against South Plainfield. She had herself a double-double on Thursday as well, her 12th of the season. While the Owls have struggled recently, winning just two of their last four games, having a player like Kohler to lead the charge is going to make them a dangerous team as the playoffs get closer.
Hope Masonius Hope Masonius 5'9" | PG Manasquan | 2024 State NJ – Manasquan (2024)
Masonius was on a warpath to get into the 1K club and she was able to do so in a big way against Paul VI at the War v. The Shore event over the weekend. Her 26-point outing in a losing effort was her fourth 20-point game in five games overall, now fifth in six games as she’s averaging 20.5 PPG during that span. It was only a matter of time before she got to 1K, and she smashed the milestone.
Brooke Baisley Brooke Baisley 5'10" | SF Gill St. Bernard's | 2024 State NJ – Gill St. Bernard’s (2024)
Averaging career-highs in scoring this season, Baisley reached the 1000 point threshold on Thursday against Hudson Catholic, scoring 18 points in a 30+ point win for Gill St. Bernard’s. Her senior season has been her breakout season for the Knights, scoring just over 14 points a game through 23 games played this season. The wins have certainly come in bunches as GSB is now 20-3 on the season.
Megan Donelson Megan Donelson 5'6" | CG Woodstown | 2025 State NJ – Woodstown (2025)
Donelson is part of a select group of players this season to reach 1000 career points as a junior, and she did so while carrying the Wolverines on her back against Pennsville, tying her season-high in points with 29, knocking down four three-pointers in a nine-point win. Now averaging 18.4 PPG for Woodstown, the ceiling keeps rising for this standout junior guard.
Talia Battavio Talia Battavio 5'7" | SG Woodstown | 2025 State NJ – Woodstown (2025)
Woodstown’s junior duo certainly made school history this year as both reached 1000 career points, Battavio doing so against Cherokee on Feb. 3. Not many can put up massive nights against the Chiefs, but she scored 28 on one of the best teams in South Jersey, bar none. That internal competition for the Wolverines must be fierce as she’s currently averaging 19.8 PPG this season, 1.4 points more per game than her star teammate.
Savannah Prescott Savannah Prescott 5'5" | PG Our Lady Of Mercy | 2024 State NJ – Our Lady of Mercy (2024)
It was only a matter of time before Prescott reached the summit of the 1000 point club, and it came in a big game against Shawnee, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, for OLMA. Her senior year has been her best to date and she only seems to keep getting better, currently averaging 16.4 PPG for the Villagers, who are a dominant 20-4 this season down the shore.
Ava Mazur Ava Mazur 5'7" | SG Mainland | 2024 State NJ – Mainland (2024)
Mazur has cemented herself as one of the best players in Mainland girls basketball history and she was able to add another career accolade to her resume as she reached the 1000 point club. This season has been her best, far and away, taking charge as the leader of the Mustangs. By season’s end, any career-highs she previously had will have been thrown out the window as she re-writes her own record book.
Mya Pauldo Mya Pauldo 5'7" | CG Morris Catholic | 2025 State NJ – Morris Catholic (2025)
Mia couldn’t reach the 1000 point mark without her sister, Mya, doing the same. It just took a few games more, but she reached the mark against St. John Vianney, one of the top programs in the state. If people though she took a step back as a sophomore, she’s taken three steps forward as a junior, averaging 14.9 PPG, 2.9 RPG and nearly four assists a game for the Crusaders.
Meher Vig Meher Vig PG South Brunswick | 2024 State NJ – South Brunswick (2024)
Vig has gone under-the-radar for her efforts at South Brunswick, but under-the-radar no more for her, having reached 1000 career points against Monroe on Feb. 3. She’s also a new member of the 200 career assists and steals club and is closing in on 100 career three-pointers. A balanced, all-around talent, Vig has earned her place in the rafters for the Vikings.
Katerina Dakos Katerina Dakos 5'8" | SG Newark Academy | 2024 State NJ – Newark Academy (2024)
Newark Academy has a pair of standout seniors that have led the pack this season, and just like her teammate, Katerina Dakos Katerina Dakos 5'8" | SG Newark Academy | 2024 State NJ is now a member of the 1000 point club in what’s been her best season to date. Dating back to the end of last season, she’s scored 10+ points in 21 straight games and 41 of her last 44 games overall. Consistency produces results, and she’s getting those results in ample quantities.
Haley Poser Haley Poser 5'8" | SG Ranney School | 2025 State NJ – Ranney (2025)
Stud. There’s no better way to describe Haley Poser Haley Poser 5'8" | SG Ranney School | 2025 State NJ than stud because that’s what she is on the floor. These last two seasons have been crucial to her overall growth, her time to blossom and show out. Averaging nearly 20 points a game as a junior, she’s taken her game to the next level and reaching 1000 career points shows that growth incredibly well.
Kennedy Henry Kennedy Henry 6'1" | CG Blair | 2025 State NJ – Blair (2025)
Blair Academy has found some diamonds in the rough, some superstars that might have gone overlooked in other places. Henry is certainly a prized possession for them as she’s been a stud from the beginning, committing to Virginia Tech as a freshman. Just add 1000 point scorer to her resume as she recorded a fourth-straight 20-point game for the Bucs to reach the mark.
Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ – St. John Vianney (2025)
Matus was a big gat for St. John Vianney coming into the season and the fruits of her labor are really beginning to pay off with the Lancers. While she didn’t score all 1000 of her points at SJV, having balled out in her first two years at Morris Catholic, what she’s done is grow into her role on a fantastic Lancers team and excel at what she’s done best throughout her high school career. There’s plenty more to come for her, no doubt.
