Shaniya Williams
Shaniya Williams
Williams continues to elevate her game and it seems like every time I catch her, she’s added something extra but one thing remains, she’s a long and athletic guard which is also the base. Watching her on the ball defense as well as playing the passing lane was nice, so was her pull-up jumper in the set from deep along with her “stop and pop” jumper in transition
Cya Narahari
Cya Narahari
Narahari can knock down shots in the flow yet her ability to not only want to take the big shot in the clutch but deliver it has been something she has shown in the numerous games I have seen her play. She also can drop the midrange, yet her deceptive first step gives her options as she also did a good job attack to score or dish
Grays is coming along nicely, yeah she’s “long and athletic” which again is the base and her timing played a big part in her team advancing because she elevates off the ground instinctively, to either rebound, which she does on both ends or block shots yet she also puts something on whoever is challenging her as she can make them change their shot, aka alter, or simply deflect it. She also gives offensive help around the basket
Highlights
Leverton grabbed my attention as a freshman and she showed plenty of potential when her club coach sent me an email to please come and check their squad out. Watching her court vision under pressure was impressive yet she also did a good job handling the ball under pressure along with creating and releasing her shot while being defended. Her release is quick and fluid, she knocked it down from mid to long-range yet she also showed nice body control attacking off the dribble
Highlights
Williams smoothly gets it done and her ability to take the defender off the dribble to score from not only multiple angles but using either hand to get tot he rim was nice. Her body control needs to be mentioned as she dropped it while being off balance yet her “hands and footwork” at her size had me smiling as she scored around the basket over taller players
Highlights
Abigail Ortega
Abigail Ortega
Ortega was another player that knocked down big shots and her dropping it from deep to cut the lead to 5 late in the game helped to change the momentum. She’s also one of those players that “plays within herself” and understands how to “get hers in the flow” yet that clutch shot even got me going
Chidimma Tassie
Chidimma Tassie
Tassie is listed as both a combo guard and small forward on her teams roster and guess what, she showed she could play all 3 positions. Her understanding of positioning allowed her to rebound against taller players, she also handled the ball while being defended and made good decisions on her passes yet she also wanted the ball under pressure and her 3 very late in the game ignited their last run as it cut the lead to 2
