The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
MVP Of The Week
- 1/30/24 @ Westside – 27 Points (10-21), 6 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 4 Steals, 2 Blocks, 4 TO’s
Naomi White is an individual that could be mentioned in this type of article each week. She is a pivotal player for her high school program and her numbers reflect that. This past week, White led her team to a major victory against Westside High School by a final score of 60-57. In the end, White scored 27 points, brought in 6 Rebounds, facilitated 6 Assists, created 4 Steals, and blocked 2 shots. This was an important win for the T-Birds as they lost to this group earlier on this season in OT. They currently have a record sitting a little over .500 as the Playoffs approach. If they continue to play team ball and the college committed players continue to play at their full capabilities, then I think this group could go far. As for White, she is going to be playing for GCU after this season comes to an end. A place where I’m sure she is going to be able to thrive when put in the correct situations.

- 1/30/24 vs Falls City – 13 Points (6-9), 5 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 4 Steals
Before this week, I haven’t had the chance to scout Kalison Miller Kalison Miller 5’11” | PF Weeping Water | 2025 NE on the hardwood but that has all changed and I’m pretty confident in saying that she has some game. Miller has the combination that all collegiate coaches love. She is athletic with some height at 5’10. In the contests that I have seen her compete in, she holds her own by the basket and isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint, usually leading to efficient stat lines throughout a contest. I would need to see more of Miller’s game to properly assess where she stands compared to others her age but from everything I have seen, it’s been promising and there is a foundation to build on here. If she continues to stay in love with the process, she is going to be a killer in whatever she dedicates herself to.

- 1/30/24 vs Winside – 15 Points (6-11), 2 Rebounds, 4 Blocks
Fast feet, quick hands, above average knowledge of the game, these are just some of the ways to describe Ella Scott and her game on the basketball court. From everything that I have seen, Scott does a great job at making things happen on the defensive side of the ball and that helps lead to her offense. In her teams contests against Winside on Tuesday night, Scott ended with a team high 15 Points, 2 Rebounds, and 4 Blocks. Making it one of the best games of her season up until this point. In the end, her team won and Scott was the standout because of her scoring. Usually it’s because of her defense but she has been showing off more versatility as of late so this checks out. I don’t know what Scott’s future plans are but she is an important part of this team. If they want to win some Playoff games over the next couple of weeks, she is going to be a big piece of that.

- 1/30/24 @ South Sioux City – 29 Points, 15 Rebounds, 11 Assists
Britt Prince is always an important piece to her teams success when they take the floor. This past week, Prince put up yet another major stat line in attempts to help her team to victory again SSC High School. In the contest, Prince recorded 29 Points, 15 Rebounds, and 11 Assists. If you have been paying attention at any point this season or over the past few seasons, you know what Prince can do. She is going to continue to produce until her Senior season comes to an end and even after that I’m sure. She is a talent that can change any program as long as she gets a chance and I have a feeling she will be getting a chance right away for the Cornhuskers this Fall.

- 2/3/24 vs Lincoln Southeast – 15 Points (5-11), 5 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 1 Steal, 2 Blocks
Another player that has been stepping up the past few seasons and especially this one for her Thunderbirds High School team is Kenzie Melcher Kenzie Melcher 5’11” | SG Bellevue West | 2024 State NE . Melcher is a Northwest Missouri State commit and a heck of a Shooting Guard. More times than not, if she has an open look from the outside or a lane to the hoop, she is going to score a bucket. In her teams contest against Lincoln Southeast to end this week, Melcher had 15 Points along with a handful of other positive stats in her teams victory. Something to note about this outing is that all of these points came from behind the arc. That’s not always the case with Melcher’s game but she has demonstrated that she can get hot from the outside in quite a hurry, especially if she see’s the first one go in. This team has put together a positive season and I’m sure they are ready to keep that momentum rolling into the Playoffs.
