It was all out battles in every gym, with the team who brought their defense winning the contest. Coaches reached into their bag as you saw not only traditional defenses like 2-3 zones, 1-3-1 zones, and of course pressing man to man. A few coaches threw some junk defenses out there to slow down attacks, unleashing zones such as the triangle and 2 or the diamond and 1. Either way, the team with the best defense advanced.
