All-Defense 14U | Dynasty Classic Houston

A handful of players earned their acknowledgments from Houston's Dynasty Classic but did not receive proper due. So, before the "All-Defense Dynasty Finals" from Dallas drops, let's look back a few weeks first, to the All-Defense Group from Dynasty Classic. Smith gave tireless effort on both ends of the floor. She gets her hands on many pass attempts into the lane and, despite being an undersized defender, has excellent awareness of how and when to use her body to her advantage. MaKayla McCowan was one of my favorite defenders of the weekend, primarily because she takes pride in her game. She enjoys locking up opponents and performs well on the offensive end-- will be exciting to see how she continues to develop. Zoe has a love for the game that pours out as soon as she steps between the lines. She enjoys the fight for possession, the contact in defense, and the drive to win. She repeatedly forced opponents into tough possessions, doing so without fouling and always at the right moments. Aubree's speed, hustle, and athleticism drove her team's defensive efforts. She was involved in every loose ball, every rebound within a 7-foot radius, and every 50-50 ball. After causing turnovers, she executed the outlet without hesitation, no problems—only solutions. An ess ential piece to any team is the player who's willing to do it all. Brielle is that player whenever her team needs her to be. Guard the very small, very fast guard? Not a problem. Defend the post against someone 5+ inches taller? Not an issue. When you're this flexible in your role and adaptability, your versatility and overall game only get better. Stay the course, Brielle
