Scorers to Watch in Maine: Division A/B South

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gotten a chance to talk about plenty of high-level talent across Maine this month and we continue that in this article, heading down to the southern part of the state to the Southwestern Maine Activities Association, where there are some true hidden gems among the schools there.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lyla Dunphe - Westbrook (2026)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dunphe is someone really growing into her role for Westbrook and on a team loaded with talent, she's picking the right spots and right times to be productive on the floor. Plenty of room to grow in her game, which is the most important thing right now, and a real competitive drive on the floor, able to find those opens spaces to drive in or let it fly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kendall Therrien - Kennebunk (2026)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Therrien is a dual-threat on the floor, a successful offensive campaign under her belt as a junior, but someone who crashes the boards and creates havoc for opponents in doing so. Impressed by what we've seen so far, a true leader on the floor already that's coming into her own at the top of the key. Is also quite versatile overall, allowing for more offensive success in different areas of the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sarah Theriault - Marshwood (2025)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Veteran presence for Marshwood going into her senior season, Theriault and teammate Isabella Tice present arguably the best 1-2 punch in the SMAA, averaging nearly 30 points a game last season. Now, Theriault is entering her statement year in high school where she wants to leave an indelible mark on the program. How she does that is by being dominant on the floor and knocking down shots left, right and center.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Skylar Holder - Kennebunk (2025)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kennebunk has a sneaky core of players coming into this season as we now transition into talk about Holder, a solid and consistent scorer on the floor, manning the fort down low. Size is to her advantage when she's on the court, but she needs to hone in on that height advantage more for more mismatches easier shot opportunities in the process. Promising prospect with a big senior season ahead of her.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ayla Lagasse - Biddeford (2025)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Many will most likely know Lagasse from how successful she's been on the field hockey circuit, but this prospect is more than just a one-sport athlete. She also shines on the basketball court and gets to the foul line often. Physicality is something that plays in field hockey and is just as important in basketball, leading to an incredible amount of scoring opportunities for her.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hattie Clark - Westbrook (2027)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The shooting guard is shooting her way up the leaderboards and rankings lists as she continues to mature at the high school level. Experience is to her advantage, giving her new perspectives on different ways and avenues to score. Using her agility and speed to get open on the floor, not to mention her quick-thinking while playing offensively, she's the perfect breakout candidate to watch out for in this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
