5A and 4A Players who are off to Impressive Starts: Part One

For some players and teams, several games are required in order for them to find their identities and rhythm. For others, they come out the gate scorching hot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are some notable players who have gotten off to excellent starts from an individual standpoint. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='648191' first='Jordyn' last='Dyer'] | La Cueva | 2026</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dyer, the no. 1 ranked player in the class of 2026, has gotten off to a great start for the Bears, shining on both ends of the floor. In eight games played, Dyer has averaged a smooth 21.2 points -- on 47 percent shooting -- 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.8 steals. Back in Week 4 (Dec. 15-21) Dyer notched her 1,000 career point in a 69-17 win @ Rio Grande. In that game, Dyer had a game-high 23 points, going 10/12 from the floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='391323' first='Mila' last='Espinoza'] | Volcano Vista | 2025</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>To this point, Espinoza, a savvy combo-guard, has put up a commanding 17.6 points per game for the Hawks. Additionally, Espinoza has averaged 2.6 assists and 3.0 steals. What's more, the senior has made 26 three-pointers, which is the fourth most in New Mexico.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='391104' first='Hope' last='Giddings'] | Sandia | 2025 </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thus far in 2024-25, Giddings has been brilliant for the Matadors in the half-court posting an efficient 12.8 points on 50 percent shooting. On top of that, the senior shooting-guard has grabbed 4.8 rebounds and dished out 1.7 assists per game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='814476' first='Bethzy' last='Quinones'] | Las Cruces | 2025</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quinones is quietly having an All-State caliber season for the Bulldawgs thanks to her all-around play. The versatile senior shooting-guard is averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field overall in 11 games played.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='648195' first='Kjani' last='Anitielu'] | Farminton | 2026</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Anitielu, a dynamic shooting-guard, has averaged 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Scorpions in 11 games played.
