First Annual Cactus Clash Standouts

This is the first year of the Lancer Cactus Clash hosted by Salpointe Catholic Girls Basketball here in Tucson, Arizona. The multi day event hosted a number of schools with some great talent. Below I'll be highlighting some of the players I was able to see play live whom I saw as some of the top players of the event.    Nelson continues to prove she is one of the top point guards in the state regardless of class. Despite being double teamed the majority of the game she was well composed and never seemed rushed or flustered. She made great reads and great passes through pressure. Shes an skilled dribbler and can get to the basket through traffic and has an excellent three ball. Very high IQ for the game. Will be a highly recruited 2027 player.     Kollasch might be the best overall prospect in the Southern Arizona 2027 class. She has the size, strength and skill to play 1-4 at a very high level. She is a skilled dribbler, has terrific post footwork and a high percentage scorer. She's plays both sides of the ball with passion and is a high impact player. Strong rebounder and flat out hustles. A relentless on ball defender who knows how to use her length to block shots. I've had the privilege now of seeing Kollasch play many times and the things that you can guarantee when you watch her play is that she plays at a high level every possession, will impact the game, always has a great demeanor and shows great leadership.     Lual is a force in the paint. She has great post footwork and was able to get around her defender and score with either hand. Very disciplined shot blocker as she towers over her opponents. Her length is very disruptive for opposing teams. Lual is making leaps in her development and should she continue in the direction she is could be a very highly recruited player statewide.     One of the top forwards still available in the state. Biancuzzo rebounds anything within range. A dominant force in the paint on both ends of the court, Great shot blocking ability to go along with her high defensive IQ. She accounted for quite a few steals including one where she showed her ability to dribble the length of the court drawing the foul at the basket. Biancuzzo is strong and plays the game with passion.     Ceraya started the game hot and didn't let up. She shot 4-5 from the field in the first quarter putting up 9 points while showing off her college range three ball. She knocked down the deep three quite a few times throughout the game. Very strong defensive pressure. Opponents screens were not effective as she slipped right through them and recovered back on ball quickly. Ceraya is a high impact player and will be a steal for a college program. One of the better senior prospects still available.     Brown is very quick with the ball. She was able to get by just about anyone that guarded her. Great player in transition on either end. Has a high level jumper and can score effectively at the basket while drawing the foul. A player who is already receiving college interest which I expect to continue throughout the remainder of the season. Plays with a strong motor and makes play after play. Very vocal and great leadership. Brown is very active on the court.     Chief started the game out with a quick steal that she took the other way for the easy layup. Showed her vision a lot in this game getting her team involved heavily. Notable play was a no look assist she made passing the ball three quarters of the court right on target. Well composed dribbler through pressure who made plays the whole game. High percentage scorer. Showed off her range as well as a nice pump fake which she dribbled into a mid range score. Chief knows and plays the game at a high level.
