6A No. 2-ranked West Linn rebounded from its loss to 6A No. 1-ranked Tualatin on Tuesday by putting on a defensive clinic in a dominant 57-27 win over the top team in 5A, Springfield, on Thursday.

The returning Three Rivers League defensive player of the year, junior [player_tooltip player_id='832080' first='Kaylor' last='Buse'], led all scorers with a complete game for the Lions—19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 4 blocks. The 5-foot-9 point guard's ability to defend on-ball on the drive and hang in the air for the rejection is unmatched in the state.

Springfield struck first and led by one possession most of the first quarter, but had a hard time keeping 6-foot [player_tooltip player_id='1232847' first='Kinley' last='Buse'] off the offensive glass. The sophomore power forward won 5 offensive rebounds in the opening frame, contributing to West Linn's 3-point lead (13-10) going into the first break. [player_tooltip player_id='1232847' first='Kinley' last='Buse'] finished the game with 8 points and 10 boards.

West Linn took control in the second quarter and never looked back. Early in the frame, senior [player_tooltip player_id='832621' first='Reese' last='Jordan'] knocked down her second three-pointer, a pull-up jumper from the top of the arc to start a 16-0 run that put the Lions ahead 32-15 at halftime. The Washington State commit ended the night with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Senior guard Sophie Maxwell contributed to the Lions' second-quarter run and scored all 5 of her points in the same frame. She finished the game with 7 boards and was the glue player Thursday night. Maxwell played solid on-ball defense and pushed the pace after securing defensive rebounds.

Springfield's freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='1264922' first='Nuari' last='Filipe'], who ended the game with a team-high 10 points and 5 rebounds, scored first in the third quarter, finishing a contested layup in transition over the outstretched arms of [player_tooltip player_id='1232847' first='Kinley' last='Buse'] and ending a more than 7-minute scoring drought for the Millers. But West Linn continued to push the pace and extended its lead to 20 points (43-23) by the end of the third frame.

The Lions continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, went deep into their bench, and held the Millers to just 4 points in the final frame, ending with a game-high 30-point margin.

6A No. 2-ranked West Linn rebounded from its loss to 6A No. 1-ranked Tualatin on Tuesday by putting on a defensive clinic in a dominant 57-27 win over the top team in 5A, Springfield, on Thursday.
