Some of the New Guards Added to the Class of 2029 Rankings

Here is a look at a group of guards who are new additions to the newly released rankings</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1616234' first='Leah' last='Meyerkorth'] (Rock Port): A 5'8" guard who who stepped into a big role as a freshman to help Rock Port to a 29-3 record and a repeat berth in the Final Four of the Class 1 state tournament. She has a good feel for the game and she plays with good fundamentals. She plays well without the ball and does a nice job of working within the framework of the offense. She averaged eight points and four rebounds a game this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='874837' first='Kayden' last='Kirn'] (Cape Girardeau Central): A 5'6" point guard who is a very talented young prospect in the SEMO area. She has good quickness and handles, when enables her to be able to touch the paint on dribble penetration. She can also hit the 3-pointer if she is given a little extra space. She operates well in the pick and roll. She can also apply good pressure as a solid on-ball defender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1616231' first='Ava' last='Welch'] (Higbee): A 5'8" guard who earned All-State honors after an impressive freshman season in which she helped lead the Tigers to the CLAA championship. She filled the shoes of older sister Ronnie Welch very well after her graduation. She is a good athlete who can excel in the up-tempo game. She can drive it well and also hit the 3-pointer. As a freshman, she averaged 23 points, five rebounds and two assists a game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1812339' first='Paije' last='Tolliver'] (Hazelwood Central, Pictured):A 5'9" guard who is physically strong and plays the game with good athleticism and toughness. She is very good when she is on the attack and she operates well when she gets two feet into the lane. She accelerates well in the open court and can finish well on the move. She averaged seven points, five rebounds and two assists a game in helping the Hawks to a 19-6 record. They will be building the program around her in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1690609' first='Beau' last='Beauchamp'] (Clopton): A talented 5'7 point guard who was good to move all-state point guard [player_tooltip player_id='885181' first='Charleigh' last='Spoonster'] over to the shooting guard at times so she can look for her shot. She is a very capable ball handler with excellent court vision. She can also get after it on the defensive end with good on-ball pressure. As a freshman, she averaged 7.3 points, two assists and two steals a game while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1616235' first='Linley' last='Gass'] (St. Pius X): A 5'6" point guard who is one of the bright young prospects in the Jefferson County area. She has a nice stroke from 3-point range where she can move and relocate to the open spots or also create off the dribble with a step back. She can also get downhill on the drive to beat a defender. As a freshman, she averaged 8.5 points, two assists and nearly three steals a game while shooting 35 percent from 3-point range.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1616236' first='Aaliyah' last='Ford'] (Dixon): A 5'7" good who is part of very talented group of freshman and sophomores at Dixon. She is strong and she has the athleticism to impact play at both ends of the court. She can handle the ball and facilitate offense with her passing ability. She can also hit the open 3-pointer. She has the ability to guard multiple positions with her athleticism and tenacity.
