This is Kentucky basketball at its absolute best, and the 52nd District Tournament delivered all of it. High intensity from start to finish, big-time moments, and players stepping up when it mattered most. Every team battled, but only one could finish the job.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The tournament, hosted by Bell County, opened with the host Lady Cats setting the tone early. Bell County came out focused and ready, knocking off Harlan 59-35. Their defensive pressure and ability to control the tempo proved to be the difference as they dictated the pace from start to finish. On the other side of the bracket, Middlesboro made a loud statement, dominating Harlan County 45-31. The Lady Cats took control and held off a strong Middlesboro push late, securing a 44-40 victory and claiming their second straight district championship. Lambert has been Middlesboro's go-to scorer all season, averaging a team-high 17 points per game while leading the team with 62 made three-pointers.
