Within the next week or so, I'll have a few articles that are solely based on the senior class, offering advice and giving a sort of testimonial to their recruiting process to give the up-and-coming prospects a perspective from kids who have been through it. If players and families find some of the statements helpful, which I think you will, we can expand that idea. We can help potentially calm some nerves and help younger players understand the ups and downs of the recruitment process. However, before we get to that, we will look at some players to take notes on before grassroots basketball picks up later in June and in July.

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran forward carved out a role for herself in her sophomore season and became one of the more effective paint scorers in the state. Mayer is a physical player who can compete with anyone physically around the rim and is comfortable playing through contact. She may be slightly undersized for a post at the next level, but she has shown she can find ways to score around length.

The De Pere wing is a kid who can fit in multiple roles, depending on what you're looking for from her. Neuenfeldt is a physical, athletic kid who can defend multiple positions and has the physical tools to be a plus defender. Guards will struggle with her physicality and speed, and she is willing to compete around the rim with post players. She is a unique talent and will need a coaching staff with a clear vision for her, but she is a winning player.

The Hortonville guard is a hard-nosed player who's taken every opportunity she's had and run with it. No matter how she's found her way on the floor at the high school level, she's never been afraid of competition. Now that she's maturing as a player, she's starting to emerge as one of the better guards in the Fox Valley. Mocadlo is a player who will help her team win on the margins and do everything possible to win games.

There is something to be said about players who set the tone on both ends of the floor. I believe Fischer was among the more influential players this past high school season because of how well she defended at the point of attack and how well she created for her teammates. She may not be a 20-point scorer in the backcourt, but what she does allows those types of players to be who they are.
