PGH MI State Showcase: Team 2 Evaluations

The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Showcase featured a talented group of 2027-2030 prospects competing in skill development sessions and live 5-on-5 action. My coverage focused mainly on Team 2 and Team 3, where I had the chance to evaluate every player on the roster. Here are my observations from Team 2.    Lena put together a strong performance at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase while competing with Team 2. She did a great job securing rebounds on the defensive end and immediately turning defense into offense by pushing the ball up the floor in transition. Her court vision stood out, especially when she delivered an impressive pass ahead to create an opportunity for her team. Lena also showed good instincts as an entry passer, consistently feeding the post with accuracy and timing. Overall, she had a very productive night and made a positive impact in multiple areas of the game.     Lily made her presence felt with her energy and effort throughout the night for Team 2 at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase. Defensively, she competed hard from end to end and was very active applying pressure the full length of the floor. Offensively, she moved well without the basketball and consistently found openings by cutting and attacking gaps in the defense. Lily showed toughness getting downhill and finishing strong drives to the rim, putting together several impressive takes to the basket during the showcase.     Brinley brought great hustle and awareness to the floor during Team 2's games at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase. She did a nice job moving without the basketball and consistently put herself in good spots offensively. Her effort level stood out as she dove after loose balls and competed for extra possessions. Defensively, Brinley showed strong anticipation skills, reading passing lanes well and coming away with a couple of steals that helped create opportunities for her team.     Sheana was one of the top performers of the night at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase and impacted the game in a variety of ways for Team 2. Defensively, she was relentless on the ball, applying constant pressure and making life difficult for opposing guards. Her quick hands and instincts allowed her to come away with multiple steals, often turning defense into offense. On the offensive end, Sheana showcased her ability to create off the dribble, not only generating quality looks for herself but also setting up teammates with smart decision-making and strong court vision. She was especially effective from the perimeter, consistently knocking down shots from beyond the arc and stretching the defense throughout the night. Her confidence, activity level, and all-around production made her one of the most impressive players on the floor.     Mackenna was one of the standout performers of the night at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase and put together a complete performance on both ends of the floor for Team 2. Her strong play helped earn her an offer from Aquinas College during the event. Offensively, Mackenna showed a deep scoring package, highlighted by multiple made shots from beyond the arc, including a tough step-back three after creating space with a smooth between-the-legs move. She also displayed confidence in the mid-range game, knocking down a polished step-back jumper and consistently looking comfortable shooting off the dribble. Her handle stood out throughout the night as she used a strong crossover and controlled ball handling ability to beat defenders and create scoring opportunities. Defensively, she was just as impactful, using active hands and anticipation to force turnovers and come away with several steals. She also capitalized on inbound situations, turning defensive pressure into easy buckets. Mackenna's all-around skill set, scoring ability, and defensive activity made her one of the most impressive players in attendance.     Gabby was one of the top performers of the night at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase and completely controlled the paint for Team 2. She was a force on the glass, consistently securing rebounds on both ends and giving her team extra possessions. Offensively, Gabby showcased strong hands and excellent touch around the basket, finishing plays with confidence and composure in traffic. Her footwork around the rim was polished and effective, allowing her to create angles and score efficiently in the post. Defensively, she was a major presence as a rim protector, coming away with numerous blocked shots throughout the night. One of her most impressive moments came on a huge block out on the perimeter, showing her ability to defend beyond the paint as well. Gabby's size, timing, mobility, and overall impact made her one of the most dominant players on the floor.     Katie showed toughness and confidence throughout the night at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase while competing with Team 2. Despite being one of the younger players on the floor, she never looked overwhelmed and competed hard every possession. Offensively, her quick first step allowed her to beat defenders off the dribble and get into the paint consistently. One of her best plays came when she attacked the basket, blew past her defender, and finished with a smooth reverse layup at the rim. Katie played with aggressiveness and poise, showing the ability to create scoring opportunities while holding her own against older competition.     Alayna was one of the younger players in attendance at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase, but she more than held her own with an impressive all-around effort for Team 2. She used her length and athleticism effectively on the defensive end, highlighted by a strong block against a taller opponent that showcased her timing and competitiveness. Alayna also stood out as a scrappy defender with active hands, consistently applying pressure and making things difficult for opposing players. Offensively, her quick first step helped her attack gaps and create opportunities off the dribble. She also brought great energy on the boards, battling hard for rebounds and coming away with several offensive boards to extend possessions for her team.     Mia was one of the top performers for Team 2 at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase and displayed a polished, well-rounded game throughout the night. She was a consistent scoring threat from the perimeter, knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc with confidence. Mia also showed the ability to create offense off the dribble, getting to her spots and finishing through contact, including an impressive and-one play. One of her standout finishes came on a smooth left-handed step-through move around the basket that highlighted her body control and touch. Defensively, she competed at a high level with active hands, forcing tie-ups and disrupting possessions. Mia also demonstrated a high basketball IQ with the way she read the game, made decisions, and created opportunities for both herself and her teammates. Her combination of skill, poise, and overall feel for the game made her one of the most impressive players on the floor.     Keira had a strong showing for Team 2 at the Prep Girls Hoops MI State Showcase and used her length effectively on both ends of the floor. She attacked the basket aggressively, driving hard through the lane and putting pressure on the defense whenever she got downhill. Defensively, her size and activity stood out as she came away with several blocks and consistently made plays with active hands. Keira also showed good vision and awareness offensively, making quality passes from the high post and doing a nice job finding her post teammates in scoring positions. Her versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple ways were impressive throughout the night.
