Hey PGH Nation! I am back, and I am shaking things up this time around. The Prep Girls Hoops Texas Tip-Off tournament just gave me another incredible opportunity to do what I love most: coach, mentor young athletes, and write about the game. As a PGH Scout, I am lucky enough to live out all three of my passions at the exact same time.

However, my coverage this weekend will look a little different from the previous two PGH tournaments:

Team Feature First: Instead of releasing the traditional all-tournament team first, I am kicking things off with an exclusive team feature.

Articles by Position: Next, I will break down the student-athletes' performances by position. The point guard and power forward spots were loaded with talent. The competition was tough, and deciding who separated themselves to rise to the top and be named to the all-tournament first or second team was a challenge because these student-athletes all had different, game-changing skill sets on the floor.

The Champions: Now, on to the SA Lady Outlaws! My goodness, this entire team performed exceptionally well in the championship game. Their elite basketball IQ was clearly evident in players one through eight. These young ladies always knew exactly where to be and precisely when to be there. Their on- and off-ball movement ran like absolute clockwork.

While I watched them play, my mind compared them to an elite heavyweight fighter who wears down an opponent before delivering the knockout punch. These young ladies just kept coming, making shot after shot and intercepting steal after steal. They crushed their opponents with relentless pressure throughout the game until the other team finally ran out of gas.

Spectacular performance—and guess what? She is only a seventh-grader playing up on the 15U circuit with ninth-graders. Normally, I am hesitant to endorse players playing up unless they are completely dominating their current grade level. But Samantha is just different.

Honestly, she dominated a point guard whom I had ranked in the top three for this entire tournament. Her passes were perfectly on point and delivered with pinpoint accuracy. Her court vision and situational awareness are advanced for a 7th grader. It felt like she had eyes in the back of her head because a couple of the passes she threw were simply unbelievable.

To top it off, her on-ball defense was superb. She frustrated the opposing point guard to the point that her coach pulled her from the game with just over three minutes left, never to return. The sky is the absolute limit for Samantha, and I cannot wait to watch her progression as she continues to grow as a student-athlete.

Brooklyn shot the absolute lights out! She was one of two premier shooters in the entire tournament who consistently hit three-point shots. It got to the point where every single time the ball left her hand, I couldn't help but think, "Get it out of the Net!"

More importantly, Brooklyn proved she can consistently score in the midrange and aggressively drive to the basket, finishing strong through contact to earn a tough "and-1." Her on-ball defense was on point, and her quick hands in on defense led to multiple steals and fast-break opportunities for her team.

Jayla was incredibly strong in the post, despite being undersized. She consistently overpowered taller opponents to secure critical offensive and defensive rebounds. Many of her boards directly led to second-chance scoring opportunities and immediate points for her team. She scored consistently off crisp assists from Samantha and, overall, proved to be an absolute force to be reckoned with on both ends of the floor.

Ximena played an exceptional game on both ends of the floor. Her absolute bread and butter is driving aggressively to the basket and absorbing heavy contact to create tough "and-1" opportunities. She was absolutely critical down the stretch for her team, showing great awareness by catching a couple of home-run passes for breakaway, fast-break buckets right out of the press break.

Viviana performed well in the second half of the championship game. She attacked her defender by driving to the rim several times. On one drive, she finished at the rack with a beautiful pick-up in which she split two defenders and scored through contact. That play was so exciting that it literally had me jumping out of my seat. Defensively, she disrupted passing lanes and came away with multiple steals that directly led to fast-break scoring opportunities for her team.
