Prep Girls Hoops Missouri spent its Saturday at the Gateway Challenge, which was held at the Beal Center in Chesterfield. Here is a look at some of the standout performers from Saturday's first day of action.

Alex Holycross (Hoop Dreams Elite): A 5'11 2028 forward from Cassville who plays an impressive game in the low post. She can play with physicality and finesse and be equally effective. She posted up strong and displayed good footwork with spin moves and drop steps. She can also drive it from the high post and pass it well out of double teams. A very good young player from the SWMO area.

Charlotte Colombo (STL Rhythm): A 2029 guard from Ursuline Academy who could really score the basketball. She did a good job when she got two feet in the lane. She finished well off the glass. She made some strong catches on the move and her spin dribble in traffic was very effective. She also started knocking down perimeter shots as the game wore on.

Annalyn Bass (Illinois Bears): A 6'0 2028 forward from Centralia (IL) who played a solid game inside at both ends of the court. She got good seals in the post which led to inside buckets. She was constantly working for position to get rebounds and she got out of her area. She was also running the court and blocking shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1318134' first='Reese' last='Haemker'] ([program_tooltip program_id='712597' first='Knights' last='Basketball Academy']: In a game where many KBA players were excellent, we singled out this 5'8 2030 guard. She is an athletic wing player who showed the ability to score from all three levels. She could turn the corner on the drive and either score on the floater or slip a nice pass to an open teammate. She was also knocking down open 3-pointers off the catch with a quick release.

Julia Holland ( Mavericks Elite): A 2028 guard from Kirkwood who was very aggressive on the drive as she constantly probed the defense for open lane. Her spin move in the lane was on point as it produced multiple buckets in the lane. She also hit the stop and pop jumper from the mid range.
