Backcourts Ball Out At Boo Williams

The Boo Williams Sportsplex is becoming the place to watch elite girls basketball in the 757.   Saturday's event was no exception. High-level basketball was on display across every age group.   There were standout performances everywhere. The backcourts, however, stole my attention.   These guards showed that great teams are built from the inside out. A dynamic backcourt controls the pace and creates   opportunities. It can also change the outcome of a game. These players created offense and applied relentless defensive   pressure. They also made the right plays in big moments. They reminded everyone that a strong backcourt is not a luxury.   It is a necessity for any championship-caliber team. Here are some of the backcourt ballers that caught my eye.    Frazier competed two years up at Boo Williams and never looked out of place. She consistently pushed the pace and kept defenses on their heels. A true point guard, she thrives attacking downhill and creating for others.   Her court vision and basketball IQ helped lead her team to an undefeated tournament.While effective in the half court, she is at her best against pressure. She uses her vision, strength, and speed to break presses and create open looks for teammates.   Defensively, Frazier is difficult to isolate or exploit. Her strength and lateral quickness allow her to disrupt opposing guards. With five years of development still ahead, she is a player worth following closely.     A good point guard is like a prize fighter. She is not afraid of contact if it helps her team. She will put herself in harm's way to get the job done. When the moment calls for it, she is ready to throw the deciding punch.   If Anderson were a boxer, she would be Marvin Hagler. She is tough, disciplined, and dangerous when underestimated. Anderson operates like a true floor general. Disciplined enough to run the offense. Smart enough to adjust when a play breaks down. She plays well with or without the ball. She creates space for herself and opportunities for her teammates. Her movement helps keep the offense flowing.   Defensively, Anderson stays disciplined and rarely gambles. She protects passing lanes and makes ball movement difficult. In the half court, she forces opponents to work for every possession.       Moore has one speed on the court: full blast. The impressive part is that she stays under control.No passing lane, lazy pass, or careless ball handler is safe around the perimeter.Her quick first step and active hands create instant scoring opportunities.   She can turn a lazy pass into points before the offense can react.In the half court, her speed allows her to attack the basket effectively.She has the ability to finish through traffic and pressure.Her long-range shooting is still developing.   The tools, however, are easy to see. With continued growth, Moore has the potential to attract plenty of attention.     She has a soft touch from the perimeter and can score at all three levels. She is also capable of handling the ball and creating for teammates when needed.Her versatility gives a coach several ways to use her offensively.   Her senior season should be an opportunity to showcase the complete package. Already holding offers from Shenandoah and Mary Washington, Dallas has attracted college attention.   A strong senior year could open even more doors.Strength remains an area for continued development.The foundation of her game, however, is already in place.There is plenty for college programs to build around.    College coaches and fans would be wise to keep these names on their radar, because this group has the talent to make plenty of noise in the years ahead.
