The next wave of Louisiana talent made plenty of noise at the NSU Team Camp, and the Class of 2029 and 2030 prospects showed that the future is in good hands. These young players came into camp with something to prove, and they did not waste the opportunity. From the opening tip, they brought energy, confidence, toughness, and a competitive edge that stood out against strong competition.

What made this group exciting was the way they played with no fear. Even as younger prospects, they stepped on the floor ready to compete, attack, defend, and make winning plays. They did not look overwhelmed by the moment. Instead, they embraced it. Several players showed flashes of high-level upside with their ability to handle pressure, push the pace, create offense, and impact the game on both ends of the floor.

The guard play in these classes was especially impressive. There were young guards who showed strong ball-handling ability, quick first steps, and the confidence to get downhill and put pressure on the defense. Some displayed good court vision, making the right pass at the right time and showing the ability to create opportunities for teammates. Others showed they can score the ball, whether it was attacking the rim, pulling up in the mid-range, or stepping into open shots with confidence.

Defensively, this group brought a lot of fire. The 2029 and 2030 prospects played with active hands, quick feet, and a willingness to compete on the ball. They pressured ball handlers, jumped passing lanes, fought through possessions, and showed the type of effort that coaches love to see from young players. That defensive energy created momentum and helped turn hustle plays into easy scoring chances.

The most impressive part about these young prospects was their upside. Many are still growing, developing their skill sets, and learning the game, but the foundation is already there. You can see the potential in their movement, their confidence, their toughness, and their willingness to compete. At this stage, it is not just about where they are now, it is about where they are headed. And after their showing at NSU Team Camp, the ceiling looks very high.

The Class of 2029 and 2030 prospects gave a strong preview of what is coming next in Louisiana girls basketball. These are names coaches and scouts will want to keep tracking. With continued development, more reps, and the right work ethic, this group has the chance to become a serious wave of talent over the next few years.

The future is bright, and at NSU Team Camp, the young stars made one thing clear: they are coming

NSU Team Camp- Class of 2027 Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Team Camp- Class of 2028 Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Team Camp: Top Performers | Prep Girls Hoops

LSU Team Camp: Top Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

Did you miss my most recent article?
Tap in using the link below and stay updated on the latest evaluations, rankings, and rising prospects.

Follow me on Instagram or X: @CoachLathan

Kicsten Cray showed promising flashes at the NSU Team Camp, proving she is a young guard to keep an eye on in Louisiana's 2028 class. As a PG/SG combo guard, she brings versatility to the floor with the ability to handle the ball, play off the ball, and impact the game in different ways.

Cray showed confidence as a developing guard, using her handle to attack space and help create opportunities. She has good upside as a player who can continue growing as a scorer, decision-maker, and floor leader. Defensively, she competed with energy, stayed active, and showed the willingness to pressure the ball.

Her game is still developing, but the tools are there. With continued work, Cray has the potential to become a strong two-way guard. Her performance at NSU Team Camp showed she is a prospect worth tracking moving forward.

At NSU, Romero brought energy, pace, and effort to the floor. As a guard, she showed the ability to compete with confidence, move well in transition, and stay active on both ends. Her athletic background shows up in her motor — she plays with stamina, runs the floor hard, and has the tools to become a strong pressure guard.

Offensively, Romero has upside as a developing ball handler and playmaker. She can continue growing her scoring package, but the foundation is there with her quickness, toughness, and willingness to attack. Defensively, she showed energy and the ability to pressure the ball, which can become one of her biggest strengths as she develops.

Bottom Line: Romero is a young 2029 guard with athletic upside, toughness, and a high motor. Her showing at NSU Team Camp proved she is a prospect worth watching as she continues to grow her game.

What stood out most was her defensive presence. Libby is a true lockdown defender who takes pride in guarding the ball, staying active, and making things tough for whoever she is matched up with. She brings toughness, energy, and effort every possession.

Offensively, Pickett has clearly grown from last year. Her ball handling looks improved, her shooting confidence is rising, and she is starting to play with more belief in her game. One of her best tools is her pump fake, which she uses well to get defenders off balance before attacking the rim.

Libby's confidence is catching up with her skill set, and that is what makes her exciting. She has made a noticeable leap, and if she keeps developing her handle, shot-making, and attacking ability, she has a chance to become a strong two-way guard in the 2029 class.

Bottom Line: Libby Pickett is a stock-rising 2029 guard who showed growth, toughness, and lockdown defensive ability at the NSU Team Camp. Her game is moving in the right direction.

At the NSU Team Camp, Hooper showed the type of upside you want to see from a young guard. Being around a winning Southern Lab culture is already a plus, and she plays with the confidence of someone learning how to compete at a high level early. She showed flashes as a guard who can handle pressure, play with pace, and continue growing into a more complete backcourt player.

Offensively, Hooper has the tools to develop into a confident scoring guard. As her ball handling, shot selection, and decision-making continue to improve, she has a chance to become a player who can create for herself and others. She showed good potential getting into the flow of the game and making plays within the offense.

Defensively, her upside is strong. Young guards who come through Southern Lab's program usually have to learn how to compete, defend, and play with toughness. Hooper showed energy and effort, and as she continues to add strength and experience, she can become even more effective as an on-ball defender.

At the NSU Team Camp, Walker showed promising upside as a 2029 prospect. She competed with confidence, played hard, and showed flashes of a player who is continuing to grow into her game. Coming from a winning Calvin program, she already understands the value of toughness, effort, and playing team basketball.

Offensively, Walker has the tools to keep developing as a guard. She showed the ability to get involved in the flow of the game, make plays, and continue building confidence with the ball in her hands. As her handle, shooting, and decision-making keep improving, she has a chance to become a more dangerous scoring threat.

Defensively, her effort stood out. She showed the willingness to compete, stay active, and battle through possessions. That type of motor is important for young guards, especially in camp settings where energy and toughness can separate players.
