Florida Freshman Showcase: Team 6 Evaluations

Some stood out by scoring and attacking the basket, while others made an impact through passing, defense and rebounding. As with any showcase, the players were at different stages of development, and the evaluations below reflect those differences. However, every player competed, gave good effort and accepted instruction from the college coaches throughout the event.    Clark played with strong effort and activity. She showed good hands, rebounded well, and followed one miss with an impressive offensive rebound and putback. She also handled the ball after securing rebounds, attacked the rim, and flashed some versatility playing on the perimeter.     [player_tooltip player_id='1568288' first='Madynn' last='Lindsey'] consistently attacked off the dribble. She showed a good crossover, penetrated to the basket, and converted an impressive spin move inside. Her ability to create offense off the bounce was one of her strongest qualities.     [player_tooltip player_id='1900136' first='Lauren' last='Whitter'] showed several intangibles at the showcase that can't be taught: speed and shiftiness. On the things that can be taught, Whitter received valuable coaching and instruction that she will carry into the upcoming season. Whitter is still learning and gaining confidence. She moved well when the ball wasn't in her hands and played ok when she was running the offense.     [player_tooltip player_id='1824792' first='Nevaeh' last='Bedjan'] was very active on the floor and contributed on both ends of the floor, doing the little things. She contributed on the boards and played in sync with teammates.     [player_tooltip player_id='1309476' first='Faith' last='Delacruz'] was one of the most impressive players in the group. She consistently pushed the ball, delivered accurate advance passes up the floor, and displayed very good court vision.   She scored in transition, handled the ball very well, and on one play, went coast-to-coast and converted a powerful spin move at the rim. Her combination of passing, strength, and playmaking repeatedly stood out throughout the showcase.     Mondone showed good size, hands, and feel around the basket. She ran the floor exceptionally well and made a living in the transition game- repeatedly getting out on the break. This speaks to her basketball IQ and her ability to read a change of possession before or as it's happening. When receiving the ball on offense, she quickly converted catches into strong moves toward the rim.     Gonzalez was an athletic and aggressive performer who has the ability to impact the game from both sides of the floor. She is an agressive downhill attacker who consistently penetrated the defense at the showcase. Gonzalez also demonstrated strong ball-handling skills and has creativity in her game. On one play, she used a spin move in the lane and finished at the basket. She also flashed a promising three-point shot and made an excellent defensive play to stop a layup.
