The 2026 Prep Girls Hoops Louisiana Expo All-Defensive Third Team

Scoring may grab the headlines, but defense changes games—and several athletes at the 2026 Prep Girls Hoops Louisiana Expo proved they were willing to do the hard work on every possession.   The Expo featured talented players from multiple schools and graduating classes, creating an intense environment where every athlete had to compete. While plenty of players displayed their offensive skills, this group separated itself through defensive pressure, active hands, communication and nonstop effort. Palacio, Shannon, Hobby and Parker applied pressure from the guard positions, challenged ball handlers and made opponents work to initiate their offense. Player provided additional size and versatility, giving her the ability to defend different positions and contribute around the paint.   What separated these five athletes was their willingness to embrace the defensive side of the game. They competed through screens, stayed active in passing lanes, communicated with teammates and fought for loose balls and rebounds. Their effort helped create turnovers, disrupt offensive rhythm and generate transition opportunities.   Defense requires discipline, toughness and the willingness to compete even when the spotlight is somewhere else. These players showed those qualities throughout the Louisiana Expo and earned recognition for the energy they brought to that end of the floor. Her effort and willingness to compete helped her earn a place on the Louisiana Expo All-Defensive Third Team. That recognition showed her ability to remain impactful even when her offensive game was not falling into place.   One difficult performance does not define Player or erase what she is capable of doing on the court. She is only beginning her journey in the 2030 class and still has plenty of time to develop her confidence, consistency and complete offensive game. Her current profile lists her as a 5-foot-6 small forward from Airline who competes with the Louisiana Goats.   Player demonstrated toughness by continuing to defend and compete through adversity. As her game develops and her confidence grows, she has the tools to become a productive two-way player. The ability is there, the potential is real and her story is only getting started. The 5-foot-2 guard refused to let her size determine her impact, using her quick feet, active hands and competitive toughness to make life difficult for opposing ball handlers.   Parker stayed low in her stance, moved well laterally and consistently pressured the basketball. Her quick hands allowed her to disrupt dribbles, challenge passes and create turnovers. She competed through every possession, chased loose balls and continued applying pressure without allowing her energy to drop.   What stood out most was Parker's willingness to battle. She played with purpose, accepted difficult assignments and brought the type of effort that can energize an entire lineup. Her leadership is also reflected in her role as a team captain and primary ball handler for South Plaquemines.   Parker proved that defensive impact is not determined by height—it comes from heart, preparation and the willingness to compete. Her quickness, toughness and nonstop motor earned her a place on the Louisiana Expo All-Defensive Third Team.     Jaleigha made her presence felt through her defensive performance at the Louisiana Expo. The 5-foot-4 point guard played with energy, toughness and a willingness to compete on every possession.   Hobby applied pressure at the point of attack, stayed active with her hands and worked to keep opposing guards from getting comfortable. Her quick feet helped her stay connected to ball handlers, while her effort allowed her to fight through screens, challenge passing lanes and remain involved when plays extended.   What stood out most was her motor. Hobby continued working even when she was away from the basketball, communicating with teammates, rotating into position and helping keep the defense organized. She embraced the defensive side of the game and showed that she was willing to handle the difficult assignments.   Hobby's energy, discipline and competitive effort earned her a place on the Louisiana Expo All-Defensive Third Team. She brought pressure, accepted the challenge and proved she can influence a game without needing to score. The 5-foot-6 guard competed for everything, refused to be pushed around and brought a level of energy that could be felt across the entire floor.   Shannon applied nonstop pressure defensively, using her quick feet, active hands and physical style to disrupt opposing guards. She fought through screens, challenged passing lanes and created turnovers that quickly turned into scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates.   Her impact went beyond steals. Shannon communicated constantly, directed teammates and remained involved in every possession. Whether she was pressuring the basketball, helping away from the ball or racing back in transition, she never stopped working.   What separated Shannon was the passion behind her play. She embraced the physical side of the game, battled for every loose ball and played each possession like it could decide the outcome.   Shannon brought toughness, leadership and relentless defensive pressure to the Louisiana Expo. She worked the entire floor, created chaos and proved she is the type of competitor every coach wants on the court.     Palacio played low in her stance, moved her feet and applied consistent pressure at the point of attack. She worked to turn ball handlers, cut off driving lanes and make every possession uncomfortable. Her active hands allowed her to disrupt the dribble and challenge passes without abandoning her defensive position.   What stood out was the energy and toughness she brought to each assignment. Palacio stayed engaged, communicated and competed through the entire possession. When she forced a mistake, she quickly turned defense into offense and helped generate transition opportunities.   Her performance matched previous scouting that describes her as a confident, tough guard who controls the pace and competes on both ends.Her continued development also helped her earn recognition among the players who moved up in the updated 2028 rankings.   Palacio is a playmaker and floor general offensively, but her defensive pressure is what sets the tone.
