2030 Prospects to Watch from New York Section 2

As they enter their freshman seasons, it is a big year for 2030 prospects. A handful of players were just added to our Watch List for 2030 players. Several of the players on the list are from Section 2. Here is a look at the top 2030 prospects from Section 2 currently on the Watch List.    [player_tooltip player_id='1901306' first='Yahaira' last='Amaya'] is developing into a dominant post player at a young age. Amaya plays with a maturity and skill set that is above her age level. She can score in the paint in a variety of ways. Amaya can execute moves in the post or beat defenders off the dribble in the lane for easy scoring opportunities. She has a soft touch around the rim. Amaya is an elite rebounder who also scores off putbacks off the offensive boards. She is an excellent defender with superior basket protection skills. There is no ceiling for how good Amaya can be.     [player_tooltip player_id='1702434' first='Alexis' last='Craig'] gets better every time I see her play. At 5'8", Craig plays bigger than her height would indicate. Craig has developed into a consistent three-level scorer. She can knock down jumpers both beyond the arc and in the midrange. Craig is outstanding off the dribble and understands how to get to the rim and score. She runs the floor well to score in transition. Craig is an outstanding on-the-ball defender and also helps protect the basket. She is a very good rebounder who scores points off putbacks. I can't wait to see Craig improve more this winter.     [player_tooltip player_id='1814884' first='Ariana' last='Lampedusa'] is another prospect in this class who plays above her grade level. Lampedusa is an outstanding outside shooter. She can knock down shots equally well from the wings, baseline, or top of the key with unlimited range. Her shooting fundamentals, with her footwork and release, are pure perfection. Lampedusa is very good off the dribble, getting into the paint and scoring easy buckets. Her length and anticipation skills allow her to be a disruptive force on defense. Expect Lampedusa to rise to a new level during the high school season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1919815' first='Michaela' last='Mazurek'] is a player on the rise for the powerhouse Shaker program. Mazurek is an outstanding ball-handler with exceptional ability to get to the basket and score. Mazurek is equally skilled at finishing with either hand. She is a very good shooter with a smooth touch. Mazurek understands how to read opponents' next moves, making her a strong defender. She will soon make an impact for the Blue Bison at the varsity level. Mazurek is a player to keep an eye on this winter.         [player_tooltip player_id='1873889' first='Yael' last='Sanford'] is another rising prospect to watch from the powerful Shaker program. Sanford is already an elite ball-handler at a young age. She has all the moves with the ball in her hands to shake defenders and get to the basket with her superior quickness. Sanford has an explosive crossover move she uses to shake free from defenders. She is also capable of stepping out to the perimeter to connect from behind the arc. She plays with a high motor at all times and excels on defense due to that mindset. With her work ethic, it's safe to say Sanford is just scratching the surface.
