Energy Givers at the Freshman Showcase

Always enjoyable to watch players who talk on the defensive end. In the second 5 on 5 contest, she identified one of the top shooters in the camp and made it her mission to not let her get loose again. It was an impressive combination of personal effort and also communicating to her teammates. It helps that she's a good athlete for her age, which a lot of defense is athleticism and effort. Started the 5 on 5 games super cold from three, then finished catching a little bit of fire from deep. In between her energy and effort stayed consistent. It started when she was noticeably calling out screens in 3 on 3 play. Then she kept hustling and running the floor hard in 5 on 5. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Did a lot of the little things on the court, complete with good passing. Has a bit of a secondary playmaker to her. Capable of powering dribble from the wing and making good reads. Can use bounce passes to thread the needle to rolling teammates. Or drive and make one handed passes with the angle to avoid defenders. Great example of how staying focus with a next play mentality leads to reward. Was often the right place and right time for steals. Or with energy and to successful chase down loose. Including one instance where she jumped a pass in the backcourt, then had a tough "And 1" finish. Energetically attacking the offensive glass. Also hustled hard on defense, including multiple instances where she ran hard back in transition and made blocks or steals to save two points. During one of those plays she had the awareness to save the ball to a teammate instead of just throwing it away.
