Loyola Prospect Camp: Who Made Their Mark in New Orleans?

New Orleans, it's time to talk hoops! The Loyola women's basketball prospect camp puts the spotlight on players looking to show their skills, compete, and take another step toward playing at the next level.

A prospect camp gives athletes a chance to show the full picture of their game. Making shots matters, but so does creating opportunities for teammates, defending with purpose, and bringing energy to every possession. A player can grab attention with a bucket, then leave a lasting impression by hustling back and fighting for a stop.

That is what makes this coverage exciting. Who can create space and get a shot off? Who makes smart decisions when defenders apply pressure? Which players bring toughness around the rim, and who keeps competing when things get difficult? Those details help tell the story beyond the scoreboard.

For prospects chasing college basketball, every opportunity to compete is valuable. Stepping into a new gym means adjusting to different teammates, new matchups, and coaching instructions. It is a chance to show preparation, willingness to learn, and the confidence to put that work into action.

This series will focus on the players from the Loyola prospect camp and what made their games worth watching. From shooters and playmakers to forwards and defensive fighters, the goal is to highlight the skills and effort that help a player make her mark.

Keep an eye out for the individual evaluations as we take a closer look at the talent in New Orleans. Every player has a story, and every camp provides another opportunity to build it. Who gave us a name to remember at Loyola? Let's get into it!

Follow Coach Lathan on Instagram and X for more camp coverage, player evaluations, and basketball updates. Also follow the Louisiana Instagram page at @PGHLouisiana.

SEARK Prospect Camp: Who Made Their Mark | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Prospect Camp: Stock-Risers Who Demanded Attention | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Prospect Camp: More Names to Know. | Prep Girls Hoops

Northwestern State University Prospect Camp Standouts | Prep Girls Hoops

[player_tooltip player_id='1278409' first='Kennedi' last='Turner'] came to the Loyola Prospect Camp and put on a show. The 2028 Prairieville wing made her presence felt on both ends, showing the skill and fight that make her a player you want on your team. She can impact the game in different ways, and she brought that same competitive attitude into the 1-on-1 challenge, taking home the championship. Put her in a matchup and she is going to compete—that showed throughout the camp.

What I like about Kennedi is that her impact carries over to defense. She brings it on both sides of the floor, and that matters when you're looking at players who can help a program at the next level. She is already on the radar of college coaches, and this was another opportunity to show why. Kennedi came to New Orleans ready to work, left with a championship, and gave people another reason to keep watching.

[player_tooltip player_id='926696' first='Ellie' last='Johnson'] came to the Loyola Prospect Camp and handled business. The 2027 Albany guard had a strong day and walked away with the free throw shooting challenge championship. That shooting touch is a big part of her game, and when she gets in a rhythm, she can make a defense pay. She has already shown that playing for Albany, and she gave us another good look at what she brings in New Orleans.

What I liked about Ellie was how she made the most of her opportunity. She came ready to compete, showed her game, and stepped to the line with a championship up for grabs. Those free throws may look simple, but you still have to knock them down when it counts—and Ellie did just that. A strong camp performance and a shooting title made this a good day for the Albany guard. Keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id='926696' first='Ellie' last='Johnson'] as she heads into her senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='946191' first='Kennedi' last='Whitfield'] came to the Loyola Prospect Camp ready to work, and she earned MVP of the entire camp. What stood out to me was how hard she competed while showing her skills at a high level. The 2028 Zachary guard left it all on the floor, and the coaching staff took notice. She gave them plenty to be impressed with throughout the day.

What I like about Kennedi is that she brings that fight to both sides of the floor. She can help you on offense, then turn around and make her matchup work on defense. As a coach, that is the kind of player I want on my team—someone who brings her game and is willing to compete.

Kennedi made the most of her opportunity in New Orleans. She showed what she can do, impressed the staff, and walked away with the camp's top honor. That MVP was earned, and I'm looking forward to watching her keep building on this performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1792659' first='Aubrielle' last='Theriot'] made her mark at the Loyola Prospect Camp, taking home Defensive MVP. The 2029 Prairieville guard can get buckets, but what I like is that she also takes pride in guarding. Having a player who can create offense and compete on the ball gives you someone who can help your team on both ends.

As a coach, I love seeing a scorer get recognized for defense. It shows there is more to her game than putting points on the board. Aubrielle has the handle and shooting ability to make you work when she has the ball, and earning Defensive MVP gave us another reason to pay attention to her game.

She is still young with plenty of room to grow, and I'm looking forward to seeing where she takes it. Aubrielle left New Orleans with a well-earned award and her name firmly in the camp conversation.

Gioia “G” Tatum was one of the best shooters I saw at the Loyola Prospect Camp. You can tell she spends time in the gym by how smooth her release is and how consistently she knocks down shots beyond the arc. Give G a little room and she is letting it fly.

What I like about G is that she has more to offer than her shooting. Her handle is sharp, her hand-eye coordination stands out, and she knows how to find her teammates. She can work with the ball in her hands and deliver a good pass when the opportunity is there. That basketball IQ makes her even tougher to guard because you have to respect both the shot and what she can create.

G is on coaching staffs' radar, and that attention is well deserved. She showed her game in New Orleans and gave us plenty to like. Keep balling, G—the hours in the gym are showing!
