MBA Fall League: Guards Making Things Happen

Week 2 of the MBA Fall League at MSA Woodland gave me another opportunity to watch some of the local high school talent in action. This time, I wanted to take a closer look at the guards who found different ways to make things happen on the floor. From creating for teammates and attacking off the dribble to knocking down shots and making plays defensively, this group showed there are plenty of ways for a guard to impact the game. Here are some of the guards who caught my attention throughout the night.    Audrey, a guard for Rockford, made an impact with her communication, defense, and effort during Week 2 of the MBA Fall League. She was vocal on the floor, especially on the defensive end, helping keep her teammates connected while also doing a good job defending her own assignment. Audrey plays with a high motor and showed it when she dove after a ball heading out of bounds in an attempt to save the possession. She also worked to track down offensive rebounds, creating extra opportunities for her team. Her willingness to do the little things was an important part of her impact throughout the night.     Wren, a guard for Hudsonville, showed several ways she can contribute during Week 2 of the MBA Fall League. She was a threat from the perimeter, knocking down shots from behind the arc, while also showing a willingness to get involved around the basket. Wren tracked down an offensive rebound and converted the putback for an extra possession and bucket. She also showed good control with the ball in her hands, using a solid handle to navigate pressure and create opportunities. With the different ways she can impact the game, I'm expecting a big senior season out of Wren for Hudsonville.     Dajuneek, a guard for Muskegon, brought plenty of energy to the floor during Week 2 of the MBA Fall League. She competed hard on the defensive end, applying pressure and making things difficult for opposing guards. Her effort carried over throughout her play, as she consistently hustled and stayed involved in possessions. With the ball in her hands, Dajuneek showed a confident handle and the ability to create for her teammates, using her playmaking to help generate opportunities for others.     Maggie, a 2027 guard for Forest Hills Northern, showed different ways she can contribute during Week 2 of the MBA Fall League. She was effective getting downhill and putting pressure on the defense, while also showing her range by knocking down a shot from behind the arc. Maggie was active on the glass as well, helping her team secure possessions from the guard position. With the versatility she brings to the floor, I'm expecting a big senior season from her at Forest Hills Northern.     Kylin, a 2029 guard for Grand Rapids Catholic Central, showed a well-rounded game during Week 2 of the MBA Fall League. She handled the ball with confidence and showed good vision as a passer, including a nice drive-and-kick where she got into the defense and created an opportunity for a teammate. Kylin also showed she can stretch the floor by knocking down a shot from behind the arc. On the other end, she competed defensively and made things difficult for opposing guards. For a young guard, she showed a nice combination of ball handling, playmaking, shooting, and defense.
