PGH Freshman Showcase: My Look at Teams 3, 4, and 5

Saturday afternoon marked the annual Prep Girls Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. For me, it was a great way to see many of the state's 2030s in one location, especially with them having traveled all over the Midwest/country during the Grassroots season. Below is a quick look at everyone who participated on Teams 3, 4, and 5.   .   TEAM #3:   #597 - [player_tooltip player_id='1317597' first='Breya' last='Stone'], 5-6 CG, Lawrence Central H.S. - I was able to first see Breya during July, and she looks like she's grown an inch and gotten a little stronger since then. She has some length, she's a nice all-around athlete, and she does a little of everything, from run the offense to score it some.   #598 - [player_tooltip player_id='1816667' first='Harper' last='Willis'], 5-6 CG, Michigan City H.S. - Harper is an extremely long-for-her-size, wiry, fluidly athletic guard who looks like she might still grow a couple of inches. She played both on and off the ball, had a nice motor, and could create for others or herself. She's also solidly defensively.   #607 - [player_tooltip player_id='1901309' first='Amina' last='Alzouma'], 5-10 PF/SF, Mt. Vernon H.S. (Fortville) - Amina was definitely intriguing because she had a strong frame, she was a solid all-around athlete, and she played with a nice motor. She looked most comfortable in the mid-post, where she could attack or rebound from there, but she was aggressive.   #620 - [player_tooltip player_id='1878897' first='Sabrina' last='Puntillo'], 5-10 PF/SF, Lawrence North H.S. - Sabrina was another strong, versatile forward on Team-3. She has solid shoulders, nice length, and she played with a good motor. She was another one who looked most comfortable in the mid-post, but she flashed the potential to play outside some.   #623 - [player_tooltip player_id='1919255' first='Riyan' last='Smith'], 5-5 SG, Lawrence North H.S. - Riyan also had a physical frame, and for a guard, she used it to absorb contact. She looked to drive it North/South mostly, but she played with a nice motor, and she made some hustle plays. She definitely played much taller than she is.   #626 - [player_tooltip player_id='1898369' first='Madison' last='Norton'], 5-7 SF, Jeffersonville H.S. - Madison made the trip up from Southern Indiana, and she showed the traits of a physical wing prospect. She was physical defensively and hit the boards hard, she was solid in the mid-post and short corners, but she was also comfortabel outside.   #630 - [player_tooltip player_id='1892352' first='Emma' last='Poynter'], 5-10 SF, Lapel H.S. - I mentioned what I assume to be her twin earlier (Helen, Team 2). Emma also showed a really nice wing presence. She possesses length, fluid athleticism, and even a little bounce. She also showed the ability to knock down an open jumper or attack the basket.   #646 - [player_tooltip player_id='1877664' first='Kyleah' last='Beatty'], 5-10 PF, Pike H.S. - Kyleah was about as imposing as anyone in the Freshman group throughout Saturday. She has a strong frame, she seems to enjoy being physical, and she almost takes on a "bully" role. She likes to post, score inside, but also rebound and defend the interior.   .   TEAM #4:   #588 - [player_tooltip player_id='1784680' first='Taylor' last='Bishop'], 5-4 SG, New Albany H.S. - Another Ohio River dweller, Taylor is a hard-working guard who tried to help her team in any way she could. She would chase down loose balls, try to offer defensive "help" from weakside, and she showed a balanced skillset when she had the ball in her hands.   #590 - [player_tooltip player_id='1223885' first='Abigail' last='Hernandez'], 5-4 PG, Lowell H.S. - Abigail is a nice little point guard prospect from Northwest Indiana. She was good with the ball in her hands, she didn't seem to force the action at all, and she was a more than willing passer. She also played hard and was a willing/capable defender.   #592 - [player_tooltip player_id='1449788' first='Molly' last='Popp'], 5-5 PG, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory - I felt like Molly was always noticeable for her team, because good or bad, she was constantly around the ball/action. She has a long, wiry frame, she plays with a nice motor, and she possesses speed & quickness. She is always trying to make plays.   #595 - [player_tooltip player_id='1883859' first='Jayleigh' last='Brown'], 5-6 SG, Kokomo H.S. - Jayleigh is another prospect I was able to see in July, and if she's anything like her older sister (Jhordyn, 2028), she can expect to grow another couple of inches quickly. Jayleigh is a smooth, gliding athlete, and she can impact a game in different ways.   #601 - [player_tooltip player_id='1879510' first='Adison' last='Gunter'], 5-7 SF, South Ripley H.S. - Adison is a solid all-around athlete who played with one of the better motors on the day. She showed good all-around skill inside and out, but I felt like for now she is still most comfortable in the mid-post. She finds ways to be productive.   #629 - [player_tooltip player_id='1317612' first='Blakely' last='Canada'], 5-10 PF, Guerin Catholic H.S. - Blakely is a strong, physical frontline prospect who likes to use her strength and physicality to enforce her will at either end of the floor. She can step outside and looks somewhat comfortable for stretches, but for now, her best production is around the paint.   #636 - [player_tooltip player_id='1837683' first='Lola' last='Fleetwood'], 5-11 PF, Indian Creek H.S. - Lola was easily one of the more intriguing prospects to me on the day. She has good height, a wiry-strong, athletic frame, and she plays with a nice motor. She did nice work on the boards, plus she was able to start the break, and she ran the floor well.   .   TEAM #5:   #591 - [player_tooltip player_id='1800419' first='Aalycia' last='Figueroa'], 5-4 CG, Highland H.S. - Aalycia reminded me of every smaller guard to go through Highland in the last decade. She plays hard, she has nice length, she plays with speed & quickness, and she possesses a versatile skillset. She could make an impact on Varsity this year.   #593 - [player_tooltip player_id='1919532' first='Mykel' last='Story'], 5-7 SF, Lawrence North H.S. - First and foremost, Mykel is a very nice athlete. She has length, a wiry-strong frame, and she could run & jump with just about anyone there on Saturday. At the same time, she can battle inside, rebound, and defend, but she also showed perimeter skill.   #603 - [player_tooltip player_id='1877912' first='Kara' last='Padgett'], 5-7 SF, Brownsburg H.S. - In what I was able to see, I felt like Kara was one of the more accurate shooters on the afternoon. She gets her feet set, finds rhythm, and lets it go. She plays with a good basketball IQ, she can handle it a little, and she's a solid athlete in most directions.   #606 - [player_tooltip player_id='1816855' first='Riley' last='Creech'], 5-8 SG/SF, Blackford H.S. - It took Riley a moment to get into the flow Saturday, but once she did, she flashed a great deal of potential. She has a long, wiry-strong frame that looks like she might grow another couple of inches. She has perimeter skill, and she's a balanced athlete.   #619 - Caroline Senra, 5-6 SF, Fishers H.S. - The first thing that stood out to me was Caroline's motor. She's one of those kids who wears knee pads because she needs them. She was very active, always diving on the floor, but she also had a solid skillset, some length, and some strength.   #621 - [player_tooltip player_id='1376878' first='Khalliah' last='Watkins'], 5-3 PG, Lafayette Jefferson H.S. - Khalliah was one of the quicker little water-bugs in attendance. She looked to get the ball and go in transition, utilizing her speed & quickness to put pressure on the defense. Once she understands changing speeds, she could be a real problem.   #627 - [player_tooltip player_id='1896626' first='Jocelyn' last='Stead'], 5-8 SF, Williamstown H.S. (WV) - Jocelyn came up from West Virginia for the camp, and she did a really nice job of showcasing her balance and skill. She has a fairly strong, athletic frame, she plays with a strong motor, but it was her ability to handle and shoot it that stood out.   #628 - [player_tooltip player_id='1791007' first='Gracie' last='Fordyce'], 5-8 SG/SF, DeKalb H.S. - DeKalb isn't very tall right now, so Gracie might play inside some, but Saturday she was a very intriguing wing. She has length, she's a very nice athlete, and she can use her skillful versatility to attack the basket or make open jumpers from outside.
