PGH Indiana's The Expo: A Look at Team-2

Sunday evening marked the annual Prep Girls Hoops Indiana "The Expo". For me, it was a great way to see some of the state's 2027s and 2028s in one location, especially with them having traveled all over the Midwest/country during the Grassroots season. Below is a quick look at everyone who participated on Team-2.   .   TEAM-2:    Amaya is really starting to put it all together and approach that ceiling of hers. She has gotten stronger, more skilled with the ball in her hands, and I think she is playing with a lot more confidence because she's now able to enforce her will a little and absorb contact much better. She has tremendous length and can act as a traditional power forward, but she's much better when she's able to play in the mid-post and attack or handle it in transition and create. Look for her to have an outstanding year at West Lafayette.     I think Laila is one of the more overlooked prospects by small colleges right now, and it's simply because of height. I'll say this...she definitely plays much bigger than she is, but she also understands who she is. She doesn't force shots that aren't there, and she takes care of the basketball and gets it where it needs to go. She is a nice all-around athlete with some speed and quickness, plus she is a very good on-ball defender who works at that end of the floor. I think she could be a "steal" of a PG for some small college program.     Speaking of under-recruited prospects, Aaliyah had a tremendous Spring and Summer on the grassroots circuit, and she strikes me as a kid who works hard at her craft, she could disappear for a year or two of early college, then pop back up and have a great Junior & Senior year at a 4-year school, making people question who she is and where she came from. She is extremely powerful, explosive, and quietly tough. She defends well and with her physicality, plus she continues to improve her skill.     Luci is a talented perimeter shooter, and she put together a nice Spring and Summer grassroots season in 2026. She has gotten stronger, which has helped her extend her range, but it has also given her more confidence to attack the basket, taking on contact much better. She's a solid ball-handler, and she can run offense, but she's such a good shooter, I would want to work her open each possession. Either way, she has also improved as an all-around defender, and she's playing with more urgency at that end.     Alyssa attended the event, coming in from Avon Lake High School over in Ohio. I had never seen Alyssa play before Sunday, but she seemed to fit in fairly well. She has a solid to strong frame, some length, and she looked like she could play a bigger guard role or small forward. She played with a solid motor, she didn't mind physicality whatsoever, and she was patient with the ball. She showed some touch outside, plus she drove it North/South fairly aggressively. I think could be a really nice small college prospect.     Nora has been a big-time contributor for North Vermillion each of her two years in high school. She has really nice length, some wiry strength, plus she's a very good athlete in most directions. She has a balanced skillset and can play exclusively on the wing, knocking down an outside jumper or attacking the basket from there. I've also seen her attack from the mid-post, where she can be a problem as well, and she rebounds at her size. I like her competitive motor, and she should draw a lot of small college onlookers.
