The Proving Ground D2/D3Showcase: Preview of Carolina One (Pink)

This event took place this past weekend at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, North Carolina. Sixteen teams competed in two different brackets in front of twelve college coaches representing Division II and Division III schools in North Carolina.    A highly talented combo guard that can shoot the ball at an elite level. Claire has shown that she can shoot it deep or stop and pop in the mid-range game off one or two dribbles. Her ballhandling allows her to create getting to the rim with floaters or a variety of next level moves off two feet that include step throughs and spin moves.     Stoller is a scrappy player can play the lead guard and on the wing. She is constantly looking to rip and attack aggressively to the rim. She does a good job of finishing and using both sides of the court well. Stoller also has the ability to knock down perimeter shots.     Another combo guard with great length. Quinn had a good showing at the showcase especially for playing on the team for the first time in a live event. She was attacking the basket hard to create shots for herself, but she also did a nice job of penetrating and pitching to her teammates for open looks beyond the arc. Pope got to the free throw line several times and converted.     Lenahan was strong and impressive at the showcase. She showed her ability to score with and without the ball. With the ball she showed a smooth crossover pull up that she hit nothing but the bottom of the net running full speed in transition. Without the ball she did a good job of moving and cutting to get herself in position to get open and score off backdoor cuts. Haley also was dominant on the boards on both ends.     Strong and physical forward that uses her strength and physicality to her advantage especially in the paint area. She is a beast on the boards and does an amazing job of finishing putbacks on the offensive end. She controls the tempo by getting defensive rebounds and starting the fastbreak with good outlet passes. Chando is also impressive at the high post area where she attacks off the dribble and finishes going right.     A face up forward that can stretch the floor with her smooth shooting ability. She is best when she gets her feet set and is ready to fire away. Ellie has gotten better at thinking score and being shot ready. She can also post up smaller guards when needed.     A player that keeps getting better and better. Seegars is showing her multi facet game by all the things she can do. She is doing a great job of penetrating and reading the defense when they step in to cut her off. The improvement in her decision making has really helped her with her assist to turnover ratio. Lanii is an excellent defender and makes so many things happen on the defensive side and rebounding the ball.     Similar to all of the wings on Carolina One they are all long and skilled. Emma is no different. She is versatile in her game play and does a nice job attacking the rim and using both hands on her finishes. She can shoot from the perimeter and she has size to post up when there are mismatches. She will be fun to watch as she continues to grow and mesh with this team.     Shooter, Shooter, Shooter are the words to describe this silky smooth three-point bomber. She is excellent and very high percentage from deep beyond the arc. She has great confidence in her shot making ability. She can make transition threes off the pass or off the dribble.
