Just in time for Halloween, the inaugural 2030 watchlist just posted on Prep Girls Hoops Indiana. Typically, I like to have this completed sometime in mid to late June, and at the latest, sometime immediately after our PGH Freshman Showcase in September. But this year, I found it very difficult to put together as comprehensive and thorough of a list as I feel we've released today. Why? Well, when I looked through this class during the Spring and Summer, and I sat back this Fall and considered what I saw, it is talented and deep both, but there is a divide...at least for now. I always wanted to initially get 40 to 50 names out there, and 50 is what we landed on, but that in itself was a project. In my honest opinion, I felt like there were a dozen, maybe 15 "easy' selections based on their play, potential, and recruitment, so the class is strong at the top. In many years, there can be a major dropoff from player #5 to player #15. In this case, I didn't so much feel that way, as there are about 75 girls who were "competing" to fill about 35 to 38 spots within the watchlist. That "dropoff" I mentioned is much farther down the list. That's what made this so difficult. Did I miss someone? Oh, I'm sure I did. But we will continue to monitor the class as they start their high school careers next week and reissue an updated watchlist sometime shortly after Christmas Break. At that time, we will also expand and attempt to make the list even more valid, addressing those we might have omitted. In the meantime, please give the ladies who did make it the credit they deserve for all of their hard work.

Danajia is an offensive weapon who fulfills multiple roles and is just a nice all-around ballplayer. She is a long, wiry-strong slasher type who can attack the basket, absorb some contact, and finish in the paint or with pull-ups/runners. She's also a capable perimeter shooter when set and in rhythm, so you must respect her outside, plus she will compete defensively, and I feel like she could become a high-level on-ball defender. At Pike, it will be tough to find minutes in a loaded backcourt, but Danajia has the talent to earn her clock.

Sage is likely going to be a new name to a lot of the "regulars" in the 2030 class throughout the grassroots landscape. She isn't a big grassroots participant, but she is a really nice ballplayer. She has an athletic frame, length, and she plays with a nice motor. She can handle it a little and initiate the offense, she has some touch outside as well, plus she is an effortful defender with good all-around instincts. Behind 2028s [player_tooltip player_id='896531' first='Luci' last='Reich'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1821201' first='Isabella' last='Knitter'], Sage could be the Lady Eagles' third most important player this Winter.

Watching Mykel a couple of times throughout the Summer and early Fall, she has a lot of intrigue about her. I think it's probably because of her length and frame, and the fact she looks like she could still grow an inch or two. She is a fairly fluid and athletic wing guard who just needs to finish growing into her frame. She can create off the dribble, but she's best when she's just determined and attacks the basket in a straight line. I also think with her physical tools, especially her length, she could become a nice all-around defender.

Mia is one of the better "shooting" guards in Indiana's 2030 class based on the truest sense of the word. She is a long, wiry strong shooter. She can make shots from different spots on the floor, at all levels, and with a little range. She also has a still-growing frame, and she could approach 6-feet at some point. Her older sister, Faith Fleetwood, was also a nice shooter, but Mia has a bit more height, length, and overall upside when compared at the same age. She will only add to an already talented South Knox backcourt this year.
