518 Superior Showcase Stock Risers

This weekend I attended the 518 Superior Showcase in Scotia, NY. Many of the players who usually attend events in the area were in the house, but there were some young players who are not as well known but have the potential to be future stars. Here is a look at a few Stock Risers from the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='1892037' first='Harper' last='Slattery'] is a player with a high level of skill at a young age. She is an 8th grader who will play a large role for a strong Moriah team this winter. At the 518 Superior Showcase, the first thing that caught my attention was her passing ability. She has outstanding court vision and knows how to deliver passes to teammates to provide them with easy scoring chances. Slattery is a solid ball handler who knows how to get to the bucket to score. She has a smooth shooting touch whether firing from longrange or closer to the hoop. Slattery is just scratching the surface of how good she can be. The sky is the limit.

It was my first time watching [player_tooltip player_id='1938647' first='Addie' last='Parham'] play, but she grabbed my attention right away. Parham is a super-athletic young talent from Johnstown High School. She is a very good shooter from behind the arc. Parham can connect on 3-pointers off the catch and off the dribble with unlimited range. She is a talented defender who uses her length to block shots both on the perimeter and under the basket. Parham can beat defenders off the dribble to get to the bucket to score. She is also a hard worker on the boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938914' first='Bella' last='Foster'] was another player I had not previously been familiar with, but she certainly was impressive at the showcase. Foster was perhaps the best perimeter shooter at the 518 Showcase. She knocked down several 3-point shots from deep range. Foster runs the floor well and is a strong finisher in transition. She is also skilled at putting the ball on the floor and slicing past defenders off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938650' first='Maddy' last='Swint'] is a player who turned the heads of many of the coaches in attendance with her overall effort. Swint plays with a high motor at all times. Swint came up to varsity as an 8th grader and has been a leading scorer for Mohonasen ever since. Swint is a strong finisher inside who has the strength to muscle through contact. She is an elite rebounder who adds to her point total through putbacks. Swint has a smooth shooting touch in the lane and from the mid-range. She is a high-level defender who creates havoc for opposing players.

[player_tooltip player_id='1938659' first='Charlee' last='Quimby'] is a prototypical center, and players like her are difficult to find. Quimby is only a sophomore and will be highly coveted as her game progresses. Quimby is a dominant rebounder at both ends of the floor. Quimby is an outstanding basket protector, blocking several shots per game. She has a soft touch around the basket and uses a polished ball fake and an up-and-under move to create space. Quimby also has the ability to step out and knock down shots from the mid-range.
