PGH Up Next Wisconsin-Team 5 Evaluations (Part 2)

I had the opportunity to watch the PGH Up Next showcase at The Champion Center, last Sunday, and the talent was off the charts! Here is part 2 of our Team 5 evaluations.

You would not think that Desing was only 5-1 by the way she competes, both defensively and on the boards, traits that will translate once she puts on size and strength. Besides her competitiveness, I like the way Desing spaces the floor and gets her hands ready and feet set when she did receive a pass. Controlling the controllables is important and Desing does that well.

Oostburg seems to have an endless supply of talent, in their program, and Cochenet is another prime example of that. A true three-level scorer, Cochenet was equally dangerous off of catch/shoot 3's as she was getting downhill and finishing in a variety of creative ways.

Boivin was one of the more impressive finishers, around the basket, not only for Team 5 but in the whole showcase. Especially strong in screen and roll opportunities, Boivin showed good strength in finishing through contact while being able to maintain balance with the ability to finish with either hand.

I liked what I saw from Haese, specifically what she brings as a knockdown, outside shooter. Many young players, when they get their feet set, can be somewhat consistent outside shooters, but I like that Haese can also use her dribble to get to a spot with a quick release. Not just a good shooter, I liked how Haese competed, all afternoon, both on the offensive glass, and defensively.

Brown was very impressive and put herself, on the map, with her performance at the Up Next showcase! Solid, on both ends of the floor, the 5-8 Reedsburg product stood out, offensively with her knock down shooting ability (Catch/shoot and off the dribble) and defensively with her lateral quickness and active hands. Strong and physical, Brown showed a very mature, polished game that will translate very well when she hits the varsity floor in a little over a year.
