Impact Players of the 2028 Girls Basketball Class

I asked a coach from a local school to describe the 2028 class. Toughness was the word that came to mind when describing this highly touted group of young ladies. All across the state, the 28s have the ability to come in and make an impact for their perspective program. Some young ladies will have the ability to come in and start right away. Others, they will have significant roles where they will contribute and carve out a niche to gain minutes. Either way you slice it, the 2028 class will be bringing talent, skill, and toughness into the high school season.   I have had the pleasure to see a lot of 2028s up close and personal. Each time, I come away with being pretty impressed. These girls handle things with a lot of composure. They are poised with the ball in their hands. Shoot the rock at a consistent clip. Defend their rear ends off, getting after it on every possession. Look, in every class there are some dawgs, but this one, shoot there are plenty of them and when the rankings drop later this year, you will see a bunch of kids who will be near the top. The 28s bring energy. They are fun to watch. Look for a lot of these girls to be staples for their programs for years to come.   Check out some who will be making a big impact for their schools this upcoming year.    Long rangy guard who will see significant minutes for the Lady Raiders of Cleveland. Ariyah is a 3 level scoring threat who can put the ball in the hole at a consistent clip. She can dazzle you by slicing through the D and finishing against contact. She gets steals, deflections, and blocks on defense, add her ability to rebound, and you have one solid player. This kid is a star in the making. Once she gets the hang of the speed at the high school level, look for this young lady to be the next shooting star from the Cleveland area.     There is a new regime at BA and they have a new PG as well. A scoring point guard who is fearless with the ball in her hands. She can break a defender down, using her quickness to pull up or finish at the rim. Plays the game with relentless energy, displaying such efforts on both sides of the ball. This kid is a go-getter, leaving it all out on the court. Look for Blair to come in and be a big time factor for the Lady Eagles right from the jump.     She's the sleeper in the class and will see some minutes on the varsity level. This kid is a speed demon, unafraid to lock up whoever and whenever. She may be one of the best defenders in the state, willing to go toe to toe with anyone. Offensively, she can score it from all 3 levels, however her D is the key and what she prides herself on. Look for her to play a role this season, but when it's her turn to take the reins, this kid is going to win a ton of defensive awards.     Don't let her stature fool you, this kid loves to hunt. A heady floor general who is a solid two-way player. Offensively, she can run any system, hitting teammates perfectly in their shooter's pocket. She too can get buckets, getting paint touches or knocking it down from deep. Defensively, this is where she makes her money. She's an absolute dawg on this end of the floor, making it tough for opponents to operate. Look for her to come in and run the show at Kirkwood. A talented star on the rise.     Gritty, highly skilled player who can fill it up. Has the ability to manipulate a defense by switching speeds on her way to the cup. A 3 level scoring threat who can shoot it from multiple spots at a consistent clip. On D, she always gets her hands on the ball, poking and prodding the ball away from opponents. She reads and reacts well, taking calculated risks to obtain extra possessions for her ball club. Add her ability to rebound and block shots, you have one heck of a prospect. Solid kid who is on an upwards trajectory.
