Avery was mixing it well against Austin Prep to get to 22 points. It was nice to see some timely floaters and crisp execution from the young rising star. The smooth lefty is hard to contain, especially when she gets hot from deep like she did in this one.

A prospect that’s getting scarier as the season progresses. Avery has been showing she can be a dangerous overall scorer and not just considered a shooter. What’s been most impressive is seeing Wozniak’s assertiveness. Her talent has been clear all along, but it wonderful to see a player such as herself blossom the way she has. Avery is a large contributor for Brimmer this year and certainly one to keep watching.

A player that won PGHNE Freshman POY after being a major performer and leading her teams to great success. Wozniak plays smart, taking the shots the defense allows. However, she has the capability to go berserk from deep as a scorer. She’s a specialized shooter that gets quality looks off easily regardless of the level of defender in front of her. Avery launches shots from deep and when she’s hot, there’s absolutely no conscience.

Taking it home with 68% of the votes, Wozniak is a name that’s been featured heavily recently. Evidently for good reason though. The community has spoken and she’s walking away with the title of Prep Girls Hoops Freshman Player of the Year.

Avery has been an imposing player making various contributions on the court throughout the year. She’s distinctly picked up a lot of steam as the season progressed markedly by her increased production which helped lead her squad to a championship. Wozniak has garnered a lot of attention locally with the team success. With all this momentum expect that encouraging progression to reach even new heights this Spring playing with Team Sims. She’ll have a chance to display her game on even bigger stages and put it to the test against some of the best. PGH Freshman POY can just be one of many honors she’ll receive. Avery has put the region on notice.

Not sure what’s in the water at Brimmer, but here is yet another sniper from the extremely young Class D champions. Wozniak started off the season exceptionally hot, shooting the ball well over 50% from beyond the arc. The lefty marksman has done of good job of reducing the time it takes to get her shot off as the season progress and the results have been telling. It’s been obvious that her confidence has grown tremendously. Wozniak has proved herself to be one of the best shooting talents in her class in a short time. Her skills don’t just stop there though; Avery has a soft touch by the rim, sporting a nice floater in the lane and remains solid on defense. Sometimes specialized shooters can become liabilities on defense, but not Wozniak. She remains steady on that end of the floor, doing what she can when the time calls. Above all else, she can play with anybody on the floor. Inserting her into different lineups made Brimmer tough to get a complete gauge on and Avery is a key factor in that aspect.
