Acorn’s star has gotten off the a great start to her junior season, and she continues her strong scoring this week after a great performance against Ouachita.

Against the Lady Warriors, Dollar scored 27 points en route to a win. She also secured 4 rebounds, hit teammates for assists 3 times, swiped the ball 3 times, and swatted 1 shot. Dollar, typically known as a shooter, was making the defense pay for giving her lanes to the basket.

Dollar was attacking the basket with force, finishing through contact and embracing the physicality. She was also spinning through traffic and hitting shots off the glass, even with a hand in their face.

The play from the Acorn Lady Tigers was well-rounded, but Josey Dollar Josey Dollar 5'6" | CG Acorn | 2027 State AR might have shown out the most, which is to be expected from this 2A star.

Dollar finished the evening with a team-high 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a ridiculous 7 steals. Offensively, Dollar would not be denied when attacking the basket, as most of her scoring came from in the paint. Despite her hard-nosed offensive mindset this game, she made sure to get her teammates involved in the game, getting the ball ahead in transition and making the extra pass in the half court.

Acorn’s defense was incredible against the Trojans, and it was all headlined by Dollar. She played with active hands and was aggressively guarding her assignment. The guard was also not afraid to crash the glass, particularly on the offensive end, where she snagged 4 boards.

Josey Dollar Josey Dollar 5'6" | CG Acorn | 2027 State AR showed that she is one of the best players in the 2027 class during her high school sophomore campaign. She continues to prove that on the AAU circuit.

Dollar had 11 points against the ABC Showcase and 7 points and 3 steals versus the Houston Aces. She showed no hesitation when shooting from beyond the arc, even hitting a walkdown 3-pointer on the fastbreak to stretch the defense out further. During the Border War, Dollar averaged double-digit points, which is no surprise. 

After seeing what Josey Dollar Josey Dollar 5'6" | CG Acorn | 2027 State AR could do with Acorn High School this past season, I am not shocked to see her thrive with the Warriors. The coach of the Arkansas Warriors, Ronnie Grice, has commented on how she is “coachable” and willing to do whatever it takes for her team to win. Keep an eye on this 2A star.

Josey Dollar Josey Dollar 5'6" | CG Acorn | 2027 State AR is not underrated by our standards, based on her #14 ranking in the class of 2027, but I am not hearing enough noise about arguably the top player in the 2A-4.

Against Mountainburg a few days ago, Acorn High School walked away with the win, with their star logging 16 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal. Not long before that, she had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals versus Hector. Earlier in the season, Dollar had one of her best games, filling up the stat sheet with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.

It is clear that Dollar can pop off for solid scoring outings at any moment. She drives hard to the paint, scoring through contact, or she can step out and hit a mid-range jumper. Beyond that, Dollar can cash in from beyond the arch. She has a nice shooting form and is great both off the catch and off the dribble.

Outside of scoring, Dollar is her team’s primary playmaker. She is an unselfish player, looking to feed her teammates down low. Not many guards look like floor generals this early in their careers.
