The high school girls basketball season is finally here! What a time to enjoy the best that the sport has to offer and more important, what a time to see emerging stars find their way into the spotlight. We've gotten a few games into the season and talk about players balling out, we're seeing plenty of that and more. Here's a quick look at who's been dominating to begin the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='350171' first='Gemma' last='Murray'] - Londonderry (2027)

You're looking at the leading scorer among Division I schools in the NHIAA with [player_tooltip player_id='350171' first='Gemma' last='Murray']. She's been on a TEAR to start things out for Londonderry as we've seen anything but a sophomore slump from her. Got some much-needed experience off the jump as a freshman and then decided to put the team on her back and go crazy this season, and this is just the beginning for her.

[player_tooltip player_id='1005218' first='Harper' last='Zalaski'] - Keene (2026)

Zalaski came into this season already as a team captain for multiple years with Keene, showing the leadership and impressive play that she showcased early on. Now as a junior, an upperclass, veteran leader on this team, we're expecting her to reach another level of dominance overall. Averaging 25 points a game in the early going certainly is going to help her reach that pedestal.

[player_tooltip player_id='344311' first='Emma' last='Smith'] - Concord Christian (2026)

If anything, we're far from surprised to see Smith among the leaders in scoring to begin the season, purely because of what she was able to do in the summer. That got the gears going and set the tone for this winter, playing for a premier program among NHIAA Division I schools. We know she can score 20+ points a game because she's doing it with ease right now, quite a sight to see.

[player_tooltip player_id='307563' first='Sammie' last='Sullivan'] - Londonderry (2026)

Schools that have one star player within their program have an advantage, but programs like Londonderry who have two, they're in a class of their on. If you thought that Murray was dominating, just add Sullivan to the mix, yet another 20-point scorer in the early going that's re-established herself as one of the best shooting guards in the state. A future Division I talent? It's definitely in the cards for her.

[player_tooltip player_id='273941' first='Sydney' last='Gerossie'] - Pinkerton Academy (2025)

Surprisingly, Gerossie is the first senior that we've mentioned in this article, which isn't taking away from the senior class among Division I schools, but is certainly a nod to the young talent spread out across the state. However, Gerossie is certainly a great example to have for the senior class. Fantastic scorer, balanced playmaker with a desire to win and do whatever it takes to win. Gutsy, passionate player.

[player_tooltip player_id='336494' first='Ella' last='Hartson'] - Alvirne (2025)

Hartson had a fantastic summer just like [player_tooltip player_id='344311' first='Emma' last='Smith'], making the AAU her proving ground to improve and get eyes on her game. She's already doing that and then some to begin her senior season at Alvirne too, weaving through defenses with ease, getting her shots to fall like clockwork. The pieces are coming together, the gears are turning and Hartson is ready to turn even more heads.

McKenna Nelson - Keene (2026)

Zalaski has some help beside her in a fellow junior, McKenna Nelson, having an equally impressive start to her season in a 16-point win over Merrimack. That's how you start a season and with that kind of success, her confidence level is already starting at a high. Impressive player that can score at multiple levels of the game. Cool, calm and collected, but can turn on the afterburners at any time.

Jaynilies De Jesus - Nashua South (2026)

De Jesus has been known to shoot the three often, able to mix her shot selection well between her interior and perimeter game. She's already showing plenty of that long-range shooting to begin the season, showing her worth as a starter after coming off the bench often as a sophomore. This is her year to blow expectations out of the water and show out for the Panthers.
