PGH Iowa Top 250 Review: Team #12

October 27th was our first Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in Iowa. It was the last of four this fall and we had an insane amount of talented players in the gym. Robert Kelly (PGH Kansas) and I will be breaking down all the talent at the event over the rest of this week or so. Up next is a look at Team 12 from the Expo. <hr /> <strong>Ashlin Williams - 5'4 PG - 2023 - Southeast Polk HS (IA)</strong> Williams was very solid at the Expo. As a young guard, Williams knows how to play with the ball in her hands. She is quick and has a solid basketball IQ allowing her to make plays without necessarily scoring the ball. I think that she really showed the ability to perform well under pressure. <strong>Sarah Albaugh - 5'6 PG - 2022 - Cedar Falls HS (IA)</strong> Albaugh is a very heady scorer and she was scoring the ball at all three levels. I thought that Albaugh was among the best pure scorers at the event even though she is just a sophomore. Albaugh is a versatile guard with the ability to play on and off the ball at a high level. She's going to be an integral piece for Cedar Falls again. <strong>Alexis Pingel - 5'7 G - 2022 - Cherokee HS (IA)</strong> Pingel is a very tough player. If there is a loose ball on the floor you can count on her being on the ground trying to get it. She had a great day at the event as she showed her willingness to score the ball as well as distribute. She has improved a lot since the summer and I feel like a big year is in store for her. <strong>Katie Knock - 5'8 SF - 2020 - Dike-New Hartford HS (IA)</strong> I was glad that Knock was in the building as she kept knocking down shots. She is known as a shooter and she really delivered on Sunday. She has quite a bit of length to her game and knows how to move without the ball really well. Knock is going to be a leader on a team seeking a state title. <em>Committed to Northern State.</em> <strong>Julia Reis - 5'8 F - 2021 - Dallas Center-Grimes HS (IA)</strong> Reis has gotten a little more athletic since this summer and it quickly showed on the floor at the Expo. She was comfortable with the ball in her hands, moreso than I had seen before, and she was aggressive looking to score. Reis is a solid player for a DCG team that will likely be very good this upcoming season. <strong>Emma Perry - 5'9 F - 2021 - Liberty North HS (MO)</strong> Perry was one of two Missouri kids at the event and she really impressed. I thought that she showed nice bounce from a slender frame that will continue to hold strength. She is a very solid scorer at all three levels and her footwork on the inside was very good. She's a player who I think can garner a ton of college interest going forward. <strong>Ali Schuchmann - 5'10 F - 2023 - Xavier HS (IA)</strong> Schuchmann is one of the very talented players that are freshmen at Xavier this year. Xavier has one of the deepest teams in the state and will compete for a title this year. Schuchmann will be apart of that group as she played great at the showcase. I thought that she showed tremendous poise with the ball in her hands and could be a huge threat down the road. <strong>Elle Zars - 5'10 G - 2021 - Mill Valley HS (KS)</strong> Zars is a very versatile player who can play almost any spot on the floor. She has the length to bother guards on the defensive end but she also has the strength to lock down in the post. Zars can also score the ball in many different ways making her a player who will be sought after at the next level. <strong>Rachel George - 5'11 PF - 2023 - Centerville HS (IA)</strong> George was all over the floor as a nice compliment to the other post players on her team. She is a young forward but already has the skills and motor to compete with the older kids. I loved her ability to score on the inside and run the floor. George is a very solid post option and should be fairly solid for Centerville. <strong>Kelsey Fields - 6'1 PF - 2021 - Creston HS (IA)</strong> Fields showcased the ability to play on both the inside really well. She was physical down low in the post but also is able to stretch it out and score around the perimeter. I thought that she rebounded the ball well and caught my attention quickly. It was a tremendous event from Fields and she has improved a lot since the summer.
