CIF Southern Section: Elite Playoff Performers

The CIF Southern Section includes several D1 players and highly-ranked talents. Soooo many overlooked talents, many who will rise up the ranks sooner rather than later. There is such a large pool of specialists and position-less players for scouts to choose from. Whether a 3pt sniper or do-it-all point forward, you will find what you're looking for in Southern California's CIF Southern Section. The ladies below should be on your radar immediately.    As Leuzinger's 3rd leading scorer, Sovereign made a huge difference in their Division 4AA sectional semifinal run. Set the tone defensively in the opening round vs. Dominguez with 8 steals! Sovereign (10.4ppg) then went for 17, 18, and 21 points in the 3 playoff games to follow. She increased her scoring production by a large margin, while still making a difference in other areas. Clearly, Sovereign is not afraid of the bright lights. Her growth will be interesting to keep track of as she gains more responsibility and experience.     With averages of 20.4ppg, 11rpg, 3 spg, and 1.7bpg, Zetta opened a lot of eyes. Younger players typically struggle in the playoffs when the game slows down and defenses tighten up. Zetta was cool calm and collected, leading Chaparral to a Division 3AA Sectional Semifinal appearance. They needed every one of her 22 points (on just 8 shots....) in their opening round 3-pt win. Zetta followed this performance with 22 and 27 points, adding 13 rebounds in both games. Her last game of the season came in the state playoff opening round, dropping an efficient 26 against Garfield. Chaparral exceeded expectations this year, especially in the sectional playoffs. Scouts will be tuned in going forward.     Arynn is a flat-out gamer and deserves her flowers. Playing on a deep, talented roster instead of a mediocre team she could average 30 on is very commendable. Arynn is a competitor and the ranking is no fluke whatsoever. Capable as an inside and outside scorer who isn't afraid of guarding multiple positions. Looks and plays bigger than her listed height. Very solid pick-and-roll defender with long arms and quick feet. Plays with energy and passion. Solid shooting mechanics. Arynn's combination of length, skill, and athleticism make her an immediate impact player at the next level.     Hart High School was a 3pt deficit away from reaching the Southern Sectional Division 2AA semifinals. Morgan left it all on the floor (26 points on 10/16 shooting) vs. Palos Verdes. On the year, she led Hart in points, blocks, steals, FG%, and FT% while being top 3 in every other statistical category you can think of. Her reliability is a testament to her confidence and love for the game. Morgan is tenacious defensively, regularly racking up steals and deflections. She had double-digit boards in all 3 sectional playoff games. Morgan can do-it-all, but can also play a particular role. A great ending to a special prep career for the Long Beach State signee.     Chino High School was a 2pt deficit away from reaching the Southern Sectional Division 2A semifinals... This standout sophomore is a huge reason they had a chance in the 1st place. Tess scored 23 of Chino's 39 points in the quarterfinal. Her craftiness and ability to get to the line was on full display. The 1st round matchup featured Tess with 26 points, adding 16 rebounds and 6 blocks! She followed that up with 19 points and 7 blocks the very next game. Can't wait for the sectionals next year given the amount of young talent. Tess may be THE premier player in this division going forward with her size, skillset, and 2-way production.     Julia's high school season and career will go down in the history books for Rancho Christian. She's been great all year, but came on heavy especially towards the end of the season. Julia averaged nearly 29ppg in the last 9 games, including a 35pt (50%FG) performance against the reigning defending state champs, Etiwanda. Julia is such a versatile scorer. She is also an elite playmaker who sets her teammates up with ease.     Cadence had a playoff for the ages, leading Nordhoff to a Divsion 5AA semifinal appearance. In the quarterfinal, Cadence scored 20 points, going 8 for 8 from the field! 7 steals in round 1 as well! She brings scoring, defense, rebounding, among other winning qualities to the table. Her experience was valuable for Nordhoff's success in close games. Cadence produced all year long and ended her high school career with a bang.     Aliyahna has ice in her veins. She plays winning basketball and plays hard on both ends. Routinely hit big shots in the most pivotal moments throughout the sectionals and states. Aliyahna made huge stops on the defensive end in their matchup earlier this week. 1 notable stop late against [player_tooltip player_id='773677' first='Kaleena' last='Smith'] and Ontario Christian was key to Etiwanda's tight-knit state semifinal victory. Aliyahna will try to lead her team to a repeat in the State Open Division Championship this upcoming Saturday.
