Bancroft’s Stone was just named DPOY within the division. Alicia was flying all around the floor and putting restraints on opposing team’s best scorers. She was constantly outperforming her duties plus she willingly stepped up to assist teammates too. Her effect on this side of the ball was absolutely invaluable.

Alicia looked quite impressive in a recent win over Pingree. Her 16 pts, 6 reb, 3 stl and 4 ast performance stood out for the manner in which she conducted herself. Stone was electric off the bounce plus she provided difference making activity from all over the floor. She was so hard to matchup with.

Alicia is a forward to be high on. She sets solid on-ball screens, dives hard after them and does a great job of drawing contact plus finishing when found. Stone has no problem operating from multiple post points plus she shows some creation skills on the drives. The defense she provides is extensive though. Her physicality in combination with her agility make her so striking. Stone provides a boost while securing rebounds as well as showing hard to then recover on pick & roll coverage. Alicia will be one to watch this season.

Alicia is a strong left-handed guard who’s great at getting to the basket and finishing through contact. When she lowers her shoulder and attacks the rim she is is hard to stay in front of. She finishes at a high level with both hands, making it hard to tell she’s a natural lefty. Once she breaks down the initial line of defense and gets to the paint she plays very smart, making composed decisions with the ball. On the other end, I saw her team playing a half court trapping defense, and Alicia played the passing lanes perfectly.

Although deemed undersized by some, Alicia plays well above her height. She brings tremendous strength and the determination to rebound amongst the trees. She’s also productive in small spaces. Stone gets the opportunity on offense to flash high-post and demonstrates great cutting skills after the elbow action develops. Alicia has been one of the leading contributors for Bancroft this season. Her 2-way toughness allows her to have a significant impact on the game, especially on defensive side of the ball. Most times Alicia gets the competitive edge over the individual matchups. She shows incredible determination hustling to 50/50 balls and provides excellent help defense. Stone was named a finalist in this year’s DPOY as well as POY in the class.
