Appleton made a huge impression on both me and @playerremidies last season as she was one of those hidden gems in Texas see evaluations here Well I must admit I was given a heads up about her from her club coach yet seeing her effortlessly get her shot off whenever and wherever she wanted at the #SimmieColsonClassic shows me her growth, both on and off the court. Her court vision and defense has also gotten better

Appleton has “stock riser” written all over her as she adds the “long and athletic” to what she brings to the table. She scores off the dribble and finishes after contact. She drops the jumper, with a hand in her face, but she also rebounds and handles the ball afterward. Her court vision is solid, so is her defense, and she plays the passing lane

She makes timely, urgent cuts to get open and uses her length to get shots off effectively in the paint. With the added ability to spot up and knock down shots from beyond the arc, she’s a versatile scoring threat.

Appleton impressed me via video so watching her in person showed I hadn’t seen a mirage. She’s another “long and athletic” player, yep, it’s still the base but she’s also above “the magic number” so when you add she can drop the mid to long-range as well as attack the basket to score, her deceptive first step is nice, she creates problems for defenders. Her court vision needs to be mentioned, as well as her rebounding and defense, and guess what, I saw her in person at the Simmie Colson Classic
