About Chyanne

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a Position less basketball player. My ability to see the floor and open up offensive opportunities for my team is one of my strengths. On the defensive end I am able to read a play and position myself to steal the ball or block the shot.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am an absolute team player. I have a high IQ of the game and I look for opportunities to help teammates as much as possible. I am selfless but absolute when I am on the floor.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I assist in coaching NWI Thunder little girls basketball in my free time.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed a leadership mentality as I mature and I try to encourage others along the way.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Learning to use my aggressive strength and God given talents and to trust my abilities to play a well rounded basketball game.

While Valparaiso has a talented Senior backcourt, they haven’t been blessed with size or depth the last couple of seasons, so Chyanne has gotten a lot of opportunity at the Varsity level to play and develop through live action. She is a strong, physical forward who can play inside or out. She has some ball skill and likes to push in transition, even initiating the offense from time to time. In the halfcourt, however, she looks most comfortable in the mid-post, where she’s able to use that physicality to attack the basket/boards and to defend.
