Hidden Gems from ZG Girls Nationals: Players Who Deserve a Look

This past weekend at Zero Gravity Girls Nationals, talent was everywhere. While some names are already well-known, a few players stood out as under-the-radar gems—they were a a mixed of players that were skilled, gritty, and made an impact on both ends of the floor. These are the kind of players you don't want to overlook. Here are a few of them:    Ariellys is a poised point guard who controls pace and makes the game easier for her teammates. She can knock down the open three, attack off the dribble, and find shooters or cutters in rhythm. Her decision-making stood out, and she's a proven winner—4x All-Conference, 2x All-State in Connecticut. She brings poised leadership when she steps on the floor.     Deja plays with a physicality and confidence that's hard to teach. She gets into the paint using a strong handle and body control, finishing through contact or drawing fouls. What makes her dangerous is her discipline—she doesn't settle for tough jumpers and keeps pressure on the defense. There's a calm assertiveness to her game that stood out.     Haley has great size and upside at the forward spot. She's versatile—able to attack from the high post, finish around the rim, and grab offensive boards for second-chance points. She had multiple and-1s in her game against BDS by using her strength and balance through contact. On defense, she creates extra possessions with deflections and steals. Definitely one to track as she continues to develop.     Grace plays unselfishly with a good feel for the game. IN her game against BDS she was thriving in transition, pushing the ball with purpose, getting to the rim and forcing defenses to react. In the half-court, she can knock down the 3, rebounds well for her position, and makes things tough for whoever she's guarding. Her activity on both ends gives her team an edge—and she is an impacful player who doesn't take plays off.    I hope to cover more players in future articles.
