Eden Whitson will be the anchor in the middle for Indianola High School this Winter. Last season Whitson led her team with paint control and rebounds per game as their starting Center. She will return this season to the same spot on the floor as a 6’0 Center and she is ready to make solid plays all season long. I will be looking for her to take a step up on the offensive side of things and to make her presence known a little bit more on that end. From what I saw a few weeks ago at our PGH event, that should be no problem as long as she stays confident within the work she has puts in!

AAU was her team’s leader last Winter during Varsity play as she grabbed just under 7 RPG in her efforts. This number is an important one for any Center/Forward. If you are playing this spot, you have to be able to rebound on both offense or defense. If not, your career is going to be short lived. Whitson does a good job of controlling the traffic that moves near the lane when she is in the middle. She is someone that everyone knows about when they are playing and I think that’s important. If you are standing around 6’0 and somewhat athletic, people should know about your presence on the floor at all times and they do with Whitson. This AAU season just wrapped up but it was a foundation-building type of year for the
Iowa Suns
. They played some top notch competition, they helped a bunch of prospects get seen, and they are in place to keep that train rolling into the next season as well. Something you love to see for the game itself as a whole!

We have some high expectations from Eden Whitson as an upperclassmen moving into her Junior year at Indianola High School. Whitson, the 5’11 Center, is getting some great runs this Spring/Summer season on the road with her Iowa Suns AAU program. She is gaining experience as she competes against some noteworthy competition and in the long run that’s going to be beneficial. It would not shock me if Whitson averages close to a double-double this Winter in points-rebounds. She has the size, touch, and coordination – she just needs to continue to play with confidence.
