Halfway Mark: Best Players I Have Seen So Far
In this article:
The 2019-2020 season is nearly halfway in the books and there has been no shortage of outstanding performances. There’s a plethora of exceptional players to watch, but there are a few who stand out the most.
Quincenia Jackson (21) (Decatur MacArthur)
Jackson has been on a terror this year, putting up monster numbers and being crazy efficient. Despite only being a prospect in the class of 21, she has finally put it all together. She is a polished post player and such a strong finisher. She was impressive on Saturday, putting up 30 points and 17 rebounds, leading MacArthur to a huge conference win over Springfield Lanphier. Jackson is currently averaging 19 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals per game. She is a junior and her meteoric rise looks to continue.
Annesha Morrow (21) (Simeon)
Morrow has been a cheat code at times this year. She is a long, wiry wing that can win off the bounce with her size, speed, and athleticism. She plays through contact and has a nice face-up game with an elite-level first step.
Sa’Kinah Williams (21) (Judah)
Williams has been on our radar since the summer but this season she has vastly improved her skillset and went to the next level, already a good post player on the block. She has consistently shown her jump shot from deep is legit and her face-up game is becoming lethal. In the month of December, she is currently averaging 24 points per game.
Lauren Huber Lauren Huber 5'10" | SG Libertyville | 2021 State IL (21) (Libertyville)
Huber was at the PGH Top 250 expo and displayed her skillset: she is a rangy guard that can defend up to four positions on the court and is a very crafty playmaker offensively, with amazing footwork and a smooth stroke on the perimeter. She is a high-level passer that sees the pass ahead of time. Against Stevenson, we got to watch her play again and she just makes winning plays. Her vision and feel are off the charts.
Madyson Rigdon (22) (Paris)
Rigdon is a smart crafty guard that is deceptively quick, she has a good handle and has a really good jump shot on the perimeter. She’s really good in transition and has the ability to pull up with consistent from deep in transition. She was really good against a scrappy St. Joe team where she filled the stat sheet.
Kyla Jones Kyla Jones 5'10" | SF Whitney Young | 2019 State IL (20) (Decatur Eisenhower)
Jones has been really good this year. Her game is easy to describe: she plays with a great motor and is a very physical big that plays through contact. Her latest game that we saw, she put up 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocks while being double-teamed all game. She is relentless on the glass and a good finisher in the paint.
Anna Griffin Anna Griffin 6'1" | SF Aurora Christian | 2021 State #60 Nation IL (21) (Aurora Christian)
Griffin showcased her fascinating skillset last week. She put up 35 points in one game; she was unstoppable. Her ability to get downhill with a good first step and finish through contact lets her win off the bounce with ease. She also has a mature post-game with good footwork. She has improved her vision a lot since the summer and her game is rounding out nicely.
Ambranette Storr Ambranette Storr 5'8" | CG Kankakee | 2020 State IL (20) (Kankakee)
Storr has been marvelous this season scoring with ease and in bunches, she is currently averaging 31.7 points per game. Her jump shot has been consistent all season long from the perimeter. She gets downhill with ease, due to a quick first step and a slick handle. Her scoring in the paint has impressed, with the variety of finishes in her bag of tricks. Storr should be in the running for the state’s Ms. Basketball.
