New York Wave of Freshman Set to Hit the Court: 2029 Rankings

The 2029 rankings have been released, and along with comes the new wave of talent set to hit the courts in New York this fall. These new additions are looking to cement their place at the top of New York's 2029 rankings. This class ranks pretty high in terms of talent, skill, potential, and progression. These prospects are looking to leave their mark on their freshman year. Let's dive right in.    [player_tooltip player_id='1278274' first='Ja'Nyiah' last='Bell'] is a prospect that is going to be exciting to watch over the coming years. Bell's campaign was highlighted by her strong presence in the front court. Posting 6 points and 10 rebounds per game. Her offensive game will develop with more reps and being a focal point in the offense. Defensively, she has good size and instincts as a rebounder/rim protector. She is versatile and plays with a high level of motor control. I expect a significant jump for Bell, who possesses a good basketball IQ.       Sutherland is an absolute force in the paint. Standing at 6'4, she towers over the opposition and has the skill to back it up with. Sets good screens and lives in the post. Shows good footwork and physicality to get the shot she wants off. Can finish with either hand, and can bully her way to the net. Sutherland shows good shooting mechanics and release, and can pop out to the mid-range or perimeter to stretch the floor. Needs to get more lift with her shot, but lots of potential with Sutherland, and excited to see her play next season.     Dersh is a shifty guard who plays an up-tempo style of basketball. She is alert on the perimeter to create deflections and turnovers, and loves to take it to the rack. Good shooting mechanics and can sling it from the perimeter. Her game and confidence are still developing, but she has all the tools to turn into a D1 prospect. Expect a big jump from last season with her being more of a focal point for the offense.     Prozes is blossoming forward that has great footwork in the paint and shows great touch around the net. She didn't put up a lot of big games last year, but she showed glimpses of talent that will make her a force for years to come. Has great basketball IQ and loves to set screens and be physical in the paint. Needs to learn how to create easy shots for herself and add range to space the floor, and become a better passer as she draws more double coverages. Solid mechanics will become more refined as she becomes a bigger part of the offense.     Walters is one of the top shooters in the state. Elite mechanics and a fluid release. She is incredibly accurate from beyond the arc. Shows a lot of confidence and loves to play physical and create turnovers that turn into fast break points. Plays primarily as a catch-and-shoot option, so naturally her game needs to evolve to creating space, attacking the paint, and being able to create her shot. On defense, I would like to see her push the tempo and enhance her court vision to create opportunities for her teammates
