Montini Christmas Tournament: Thursday standouts

The Montini Christmas tournament is notorious for being one of the best holiday tournaments in the state of Illinois. Some of the best teams from the area lineup to compete year after year and it never fails to disappoint. With so much talent in one gym let's take a look at some of the top performers from the opening round of the tournament. <strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/lindsay-blackmore/">Lindsay Blackmore</a>, Geneva</strong> Although we're doing this list in alphabetical order, it seems rather appropriate that Blackmore's name is at the top. Blackmore led all scorers on the day with 29 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds, and blocking two shots. Geneva made it a point to get the ball to Blackmore early and often, and the senior made the most of her opportunities, and often had to work through double-teams to do so. Blackmore isn't a surprise anymore but she has been the catalyst for Geneva's undefeated start thus far. <strong>Molly Fisher, Lake Forest</strong> Fisher came through with the best shooting performance of the day. She went 4/4 from three point range in the first quarter alone to open up a big lead for Lake Forest, before eventually adding two more for a game high 18 points. Though Fisher didn't continue to light up the scoreboard later in the contest, her presence was enough to space the floor for the rest of her teammates to operate. <strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/mary-mcgrath/">Mary McGrath</a>, Hersey</strong> While Hersey had a rather balanced attack in their dominating win over Loyola, it was McGrath who made the offense go. McGrath led all scorers with 17 points, and it was her ability to get to the rim, seemingly at will, which made her standout from the rest of her teammates. Standing in at 6'1" her unique ability to take defenders off the dribble for someone her size is a matchup nightmare for most teams, and she still has another year left. <strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/brooke-schramek/">Brooke Schramek</a>, Benet</strong> Though Schramek didn't get a ton of game time due to the scoreline, the senior put together one of those performances we know she's capable of, and reminds us why she was a high major recruit. In just over two quarters, Schramek put together a 16 point performance, putting her inside-out game one full display. It's the kind of aggressive performance that Schramek shows in flashes, and if she continues to do so with consistency, it will be a pretty special year for Benet. <strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sophie-sullivan/">Sophie Sullivan</a>, Montini</strong> Sullivan has been the consistent, driving, force behind an extremely young and talented Montini squad. While she has the ability to light it up from all areas of the floor, as displayed by her game high 15 points, she is also a sneakily good rebounder for her size. But perhaps the most impressive part of Sullivan's arsenal is her ability to handle the ball and opposing teams pressure. Sullivan is the primary ball handler for Montini and she rarely makes a mistake, and almost always puts the Montini offense in a position to score, taking after her predecessor Sam Mitchell.
