Future Prospects-Omaha Marian and Millard South

We're spending the day at the Omaha Metro Conference taking in the girls quarterfinals and taking a look at some of the future players in Omaha Metro area. First game of the day is Omaha Marian and top ranked Millard South, with the Patriots moving on to the semi-finals with a convincing 72-45 victory. Megan Belt (5'6" Sophomore, Millard South): Belt plays a solid floor game for the Patriots, melding seamlessly into her role as a distributor and and an attacking defensive player. Playing as a second point guard behind Super-Stater Maddie Krull, Belt sees the floor very well but is capable of scoring if left open. Her role and statistical contributions (she's netting 8.3 points a game right now) will grow next season with the graduation of Krull. Cora Olsen (5'8" Freshman, Millard South): An athletic perimeter player who hunts shots, Olsen attacks off the bounce well and back door cuts with great explosion. She reads defenses well and hunts shots, looking to score on every touch. She has very good length and attacks the ball well, getting alot of tips on defense. Averaging 8.6 points a night for the Patriots, Olsen has a chance to be the next great player in the Millard South program. Mya Babbitt (5'6" Freshman, Millard South): Babbitt is a strong player for a freshman who looks to get to the rim and attacks it well. She also has a very nice catch and shoot game, with a very smooth shot from the perimeter. She needs to work on her 2nd level, off the bounce game, but she makes up for it by attacking the ball on defense (as do all the Patriots in their run and jump pressure system), but she has a chance to be an outstanding player. Khloe Lemon (5'7" Freshman, Millard South): Lemon came off the bench for the Patriots to hit three three's in this game, and she has a very nice high release on her jump shot. She did not attack as much off the bounce on offense as I would have liked, but it is a small sample size. She is instant offense off the bench, averaging 10.2 points a night coming into the Metro tournament, and Lemon will continue to grow in her role and has a chance to be an outstanding player. Aryannah Harrison (5'7" Junior, Omaha Marian): Harrison came into the Metro tournament averaging almost 11 points a game, and she played a very nice game today. A strong upper body helps Harrison get to the hoop well, especially going to her right. She can be a three level scorer, but is much more comfortable in the lane than from the three point line. Harrison has a very good handle, but needs to see the floor better and hit open teammates, but she has a very nice upside and a passion for playing. CeCe Hacker (5'5" Junior, Omaha Marian): Hacker is one of the leading scorers in the Metro, averaging 16 points a night, and she showed why in this game. She is an outstanding shooter with a very smooth stroke, but I was really impressed with her ball handling and her ability to create off the bounce. She is not just a catch and shoot player, but can create shots for both herself and her teammates. Foul trouble in this game (four fouls in the first half) really hurt her effectiveness in this game, but if Hacker puts on 10-15 pounds of muscle, she has a great upside for the next level.
