Expect the Unexpected: Rising Stars in Women’s Basketball

Oftentimes, when I walk into a gym, I am just looking for a good game. I am not looking for any in particular, but just want to see good ball being played. I leave my expectations at the door and give everyone a clean slate. I let my mind think freely and watch one of God's greatest games transpire.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When I approach the game like that, it never fails that talent seems to jump right into my mind. Girls who may not tip the scale normally, their value appears clearly. It may not be how they dropped 15 points or did this particular thing good. More or less, it is about the intangibles and the movement of how they play and when they do it. I tell people that everyone is a prospect. It's the player's job to determine their attitude. If they want to be a D1 player, go out there and work as a D1 player. If you want to be a D2, D3, or NAIA player, approach it like one should. There isn't anything wrong with any collegiate level. My point is, if you want something, go get it.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You never know when it's your moment to be seen. It could be in a gym, at a black top court, in a fall 3v3 setting, or a tryout. Compete. Give it your all. Play as if you were the best player on the team. You never know when your moment will come. This young lady has an impressive jump shot where she just floats in the air. Can handle the rock, defend like crazy, and just competes the entire time she is on the floor. Talented kid who is about to burst onto the scene as her squad gears up for the season. She can dial it up from the corner or finish in the paint. Defensively, she is going to contribute by being solid, getting steals, and rebounds. Anytime that ball comes off the rim, she is going after it with two hands. Look for there to be a solid option for the Lady Cougars this season. An effective communicator, she is going to put her teammates in the right set. She pushes the ball well in transitions, makes the right reads, hits the open teammate, and if all else fails, she will shoot her shot or get to the rim. She is going to get after it on the defensive end as well. She is a tough kid who is going to give you all she as. This young lady plays hard all the time. Offensively, when she has the ball in her hands, she can change speeds to get downhill, knock down the 3 ball from all spots, and then penetrate to kick out to an open teammate, drawing two in the process. She is a super tough defender who keeps her girl in front and can pickpocket them in a heartbeat. She has quick hands, quick feet, and can just flat out get after it.
