Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Four of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

Elly Garnder

Gardner is a quick guard I've seen a few times this past AAU season because she played up with Prime Nation's 15U EYBL group. She possesses a versatile offensive skillset. That skillset helps her be aggressive at all three levels on the offensive end of the floor. However, she did look to attack off the dribble more often than anything else at the event in Appleton. There isn't much she can't do. She has plenty of room to continue improving, and she will still be among the most talented small-school prospects this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='879598' first='Arianna' last='Wilber']

Wilber is a physical player who can make plays defensivley on the perimeter. She uses her strength to keep opposing players in front of her and to frustrate her match-up on that end of the floor. She will find a role at some point in her high school career. She isn't a player who needs the ball in her hands to be effective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1214637' first='Adeline' last='Nagle']

Nagle is a rangey wing who used her physical tools to make plays on the defensive end of the floor. She has room to grow physically, which will help her become a more effective player at the high school level. She's a player who will continue to develop the longer that she is in a high school program.

[player_tooltip player_id='1303573' first='Aubri' last='Grady']

Grady is a player who can get downhill and put pressure on a defense's back line. She handles the ball well and can make things happen with the ball in her hands. Her ability to beat her initial defender off the dribble will open up any offense she plays in, and that should help her find a role at the high school level.

Avery O'Brien

O'Brien plays hard on both ends of the floor. I thought her effort was most evident when she attacked the glass on both ends of the floor. She has a nose for the ball and is willing to be a physical presence around the basket. She will be someone who can control the areas around the basket when she gets on the floor.
