Gibson got two thumbs up from me and @playerrimedies at the PGH Freshman Showcase and did it again at the PGH Sophomore ID Camp see evaluations here. I’m always stressing the importance of “on the court” progression, and her defense has shot up because she got steals using her quick hands, as well as playing the passing lane; yet her “acrobatic finishes” after contact spoke volumes about her athleticism

Gibson impressed me last season at the PGH Freshman Showcase, along with @playerrimedies, who also got an eyeful from her in the 3 on 3 see evaluations here but “on the court” progression is what I love, and her defense has shot up as she applied “on the ball” heat to create HAVOC as well as get steals using her quick hands. She rebounded, went coast to coast to score or dish, but her body control on her finishes was also good

Shows a good understanding of how to use her body to protect the ball when attacking off the dribble. Once she gets an inside step on her defender and begins going downhill, she becomes difficult to contain, using her strength and momentum to create scoring opportunities. She also showcased the ability to score out of the pick-and-roll, knocking down a mid-range jumper when defenders gave her space.

Plays with enough power to bully defenders when driving from the perimeter to the basket. Uses strength and determination to get downhill and finish through contact. Her physical style of play forces defenses to collapse and opens up opportunities for teammates.

Gibson actually gave me a glimpse of what was coming via a clip when she was in the 5th grade, yet one thing I know is that her mindset even then was to work on her weaknesses, so watching her explode off the dribble and finish powerfully after contact was a plus, and so was her midrange jumper. She also saw the floor, played the passing lane, and applied “on the ball” pressure
